There are many areas in the sciences, mathematics, medicine, ideologies, world facts in general, and even historical facts, that both atheists and believers in God, no matter what their religious belief is, can and actually DO agree upon!
For instance, in the various fields of science, that there is a science of astronomy, geology, minerology, biology, etc. We can agree that these fields of science do exist, can't we?
In mathematics, the sum of 2+ 2 = 4, is a universal concept, that addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division of numbers, are all functions in mathematics! The the math called algebra, and calculus exists!
We can all agree that the planet we live on is called the earth in the English language and erets' in Hebrew!
In history that Abraham Lincoln, was born in a log cabin and later in his life, became the 16th president of the United States! Shall I go on, . . .?
Oh one finale example, that atheists must surely agree with the believers in God. .
The fact that evil doesn't really exist, it's just the absence of God's goodness! For if evil exists by itself, without the need of goodness to show us the difference between the two, then we must explain how it came about, through evolution, and how we know the difference between good and evil in the first place! Without the ultimate goodness(God) to show us the difference!
We can also agree in the fact that dogs bark, cats meow, cows moooo, and horses winnee. Right?

Atheist here. Honesty and kindness are the two maximum intense human traits. virtually another ethical difficulty falls below those categories. We would desire to attempt to no longer harm all and sundry, place or element. Punishment of crime would desire to be desperate via the point of injury carried out the two actual, emotional, textile or financial. i'm no longer for abortion yet i'm professional determination as long because it quite is complete interior of a particular time of being pregnant that could be a while in the 1st 3 months. i'm against the loss of life penalty purely through fact there are human beings on loss of life row who've been shown harmless. I certainly have self assurance that there are some crimes deserving of loss of life. we can't make the regulation stick to to three and to no longer others. each little thing else is ones very own corporation. As Steve stated.. Immorality is illogical. we would desire to continuously attempt for a greater effective society. certainly the muse of all incorrect doing or harm is selfishness.

Actually, Richard Maybury, famous researcher/philosopher, must have been thinking about this when he studied religions from all parts of the world. He came up with two laws which were the ONLY things all religions agreed to:
1. Do all you have agreed to, and
2. Do not encroach on other persons or their property.
Apart from these, there is hardly any other thing that they share.

Considering we can't even prove our own existence?
No, no common ground at all. Everyone's inner experience is sufficiently different, based on genetic and environmental influences, that there is nothing that all humans everywhere at everytime would agree on.

The golden rule, do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
It's actually nothing to do with religion although a lot of people associate it with religion.
But it's the most fundamental ethic that grows out of the necessity for man to co-operate with his fellow man in order to survive.

That life is full of problems and we all experience them, without regard to race, creed or color. I often thought that if we all lived life from that perspective and tried to live to help each other, our lives would be much better, but instead we concentrate on our own problems and tend to not worry about others. I think Jesus was trying to teach us this. "love your neighbor as you love yourselves". Thanks for the question, we all need reminding.
