"Church offers aid to accused molester"
By Robert Annis

CARMEL, Ind. -- A Carmel church wants its members to show love and forgiveness to a former elder accused of molesting a 3-year-old girl, causing the child's family and others to leave the congregation.
The girl's father said the family no longer feels welcome because of the support shown for the accused man.
"It's a disgrace that the church would embrace a criminal and turn its back on the victim, especially one that's a young child," he father said.

Seems like the focus of the church is off base. Although the man should be forgiven there is nothing that says the church needs to support or encourage him. They should read the answers to the question about I Cor 5:6.

God has called us all to give an account for our actions. It is a shame what is happening. Paul rebuked the church of Corinth for allowing someone to dwell among them who was still actively engaged in sin. The church was thinking itself to be "progressive" or "forgiving" when Paul rightly stated that to allow it to continue in their midst was inexcusable. The individual was feeling justified by the congregation, so he never repented. After the church kicked him out, he saw his error and finally did repent. So why doesn't this church teach this clear example?

1 Corinthians 5

For a moment I thought this was a local story as this also happened recently in my town although the child is a few years older.

One of my previous questions was if that molested child now turns her back permanently from God does she go to hell and the answer is yes, the molested child goes to hell. I personally can't grasp this.

It is heart breaking to think that any child could have their lives destroyed by such a selfish act.
For a church to condone it...is only proof that they do not teach the truth of Gods word and instead of practicing watch they preach, they pay it lip service.

That is exactly what happens when you have a Satanic driven church, the south has many churches that Satan controls, they are plagued with perversion.

I think it sucks. I'm a believer, and this is just one more example of the hypocrisy in modern religion and its "churches" that keep me away from their doors. I hate this crap.

The needs of the victim's family should be the first priority.

Christians are disgusting people.

They defend the atrocities of the Old Testament, including human sacrifice, slavery and genocide.

Why would you expect a little thing like molesting a child to bother them?

As long as it's one of their own and not an evil outsider, it's acceptable to them.

I do in fact understand the "point" that they are trying to make, re: "forgiveness". I honestly do. But for God's sake!! Talk about misguided!! Ugh. Makes me nauseous!
