Bush had a photo opportunity...nothing more. He owes these guys a lot since he is the major reason they are in a hospital to begin with or for some, a cemetary. He did not care about the victims of Katrina until the press got into it. If he cared about these guys he would get them out of Iraq. He has neither the grace or guts to admit he lied or that it was a mistake. He would rather this go on for many years and thousands of deaths. It has already lasted longer than World War 2.

Bush isn't responsible for the mess at Veterans' Hospitals -- that falls squarely on the Congress of the United States, who have refused for the past 40 years to provide adequate funding, because the Military isn't a large-enough voting constituency to be concerned about.
But now the Democrats, who have blocked funding for Veterans care for 40 years, see this as yet another way they can tell lies about the President and try to retake all the power so they can screw us, the Veterans, even worse than before. Their crocodile tears over this sicken me -- because as a Veteran I've fought this issue since the 1970's.

Of course it is. Since the Walter Reed problems, the government has felt embarassed and is scrambling to save face.
So Bush throws out these nice words to save face, but the bottom line is that nothing will actually get done. That's politics.
This is very sad that it is like this. Our vets are the greatest and they deserve the greatest in return. God Bless you all.

Just about every politician in Washington had a photo-op @ Walter Reed and yet none of them noticed the deplorable situation. This had to be going on for a while. Why not blame the entire congress and senate?

Haven't you heard Bush. "It's hard". It's hard for him to tell the truth. But as long as he's under public scrutiny I'm sure "he'll do his best" to have himself look like the great cape crusader.
On top of that - he'll make sure that another big government contracted agency (Halliburton) will be allowed and hired to do the work. Rather than some little small business that specializes in the same work for repairs. It's about spending tax payer dollars. Something to the effect of you get what you pay for. And if a small business can do it for less costs to the tax payers and do the same exact standards as big government agencies - then they'll not get the contract. The delusion that the more money one spends it must be a better product.

At this point I have to wonder if George Bush says "Good morning" whether either word is a lie. It could be the morning is not good, or that it is no longer morning. The man can't seem to string two words together without one of them being a prevarication or untruth.
