Hi there. I'm planning to move to Canada next year. I haven't decided on a specific place as yet. I need to know some info on the weather in different areas of canada. So if you would be kind enough to 1. Say which area you're from 2.What's the average temperature in winter in your area 3. If there's snow in winter in your area.

(1) Montreal
(2) I believe the winter average is about -3C (27F) during the day and about -16C (4F) at night, but to use averages masks the extremes, which are typically -34C (-30F) cold to 10C (50F) warm.
(3) The average winter provides Montreal with about 225cm (about 90") of snow. There is considerably more beginning just 50km (30 miles) north of the city, into the Laurentians.
But the vibrant joie de vivre in one of the world's most entertaining and multi-cultural cities keeps us warm and cozy and in heat of excitement!

I am from two places.
1. I grew up in Caledon and Brampton. Caledon is 45 minutes north of Toronto, and from the North end of Brampton to downtown Toronto is 20 minutes by car. The average temperature in the winter is about -20 and, there is snow.
2. I am currently in Thunder Bay. Thunder Bay is in North-Western Ontario, the last port on the Great Lakes. In the winter, the average temperature most years is -25, but it can go down to -40 or -50 even. There is lots of snow in the summer from the lake, and how far north we are.
Just a note: the only place in Canada that rarely gets snow is BC and the Territories (it is too cold in the territories to get snow). But if you are looking for winters with a low of 2 or 3, BC is the place for you.
Just another note: all of these temperatures are in celcius.. so you will have to convert....

I live in Aurora, Ontario, which is just 30 minutes north of Toronto.
The winter has always been pretty cold. But due to global warming and climate change the temperatures have definately gone up, and the colder days don't last as long. On average in the winter I would say anywhere from -10 to -20 plus windchill. You get used to it.
And once again, snow has been less frequent. We didn't go snow well until 2007 this winter. Climate change is freaky man. But you're not likely to go anywehre in Canada without seeing snow.

Hi, Canada is a great place to live!! I love it here, its one of the most beautiful places, especially in BC. I live in 100 Mile House, BC, I know, not many people know where that is. Its a great little town! Here, The average temperature in winter is about -25 or so. The summer, its to about, +22 give or take. This year we had a lot of snow. More than last year. Right now, its spring and we still have a little snow on the ground still but its slowly melting. Everything is brown and starting to get green. Summers are great. We have a lots of nice warm lakes. I have lived all my life up and down the BC coast. From 40 miles south of the Alaska border to south of the 49th parallel. I currently live in Central Vancouver Island. Coastal weather averages + 5 C degrees (45 F) On your average winter, it tends to snow 3 or 4 times where the snow will last anywhere from 2 days to a week. Obviously, they aren't all average winters, some are colder, some with more snow. This winter brought with it strong winds and brutal rain storms.

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan - over 200,000, university city, called city of bridges, totally beautiful with river running through city. Big on the arts and music, bohemian kind of area in one part of city, city in a current boom.
Average temp for winter is probably -20 degrees Celsius, but it really varies lately. We have snow all winter - this past winter was the most we have had in years and years, and it was truly beautiful. We get LOTS of sunshine year round, and it is especially wonderful in the winter with all the snow to have the sun shining so brightly.

There is snow in every part of Canada at some time during the winter. Victoria and Vancouver in British Columbia have the mildest temperatures, and get mostly rain in the winter.

i live in b.c and have for over 10 years. i live on the Gulf islands, and we barely get any snow. a few days in the winter. today it's about 12c, but it's early. it's usually aroud 5 to 10 in the winter. the further into central canada you go, the colder and snowier it is. i lived in alberta and it's usually around -20 to -30 on a good day with a few feet of snow....brrr.......

I'm not Canadian, but i been there several times.
Try either Toronto or
Windsor, but watch out, it is right across the river from Detroit!
Windsor is the southernmost city in the nation, so i assume it's the warmest?
