We have met on various occasions, she has told me I'm not a stranger in her home, hugs me all the time, and makes me feel really comfortable. I love her....and pray they she will be my future mother-in-law....well, MOM I hate using mother-in- law.

I think she would love getting at least a card from you. There are no real rules on what mother you can or can't send a mother's day card too. I know if one of my kids' bf/gf sent me a card on mother's day I would like. It shows respect I think.

The best relationship to have with a mother in law, future or present, is one based on mutual respect and friendship. I think a little gift would be very nice. What are her interests? Something as inexpensive as new gardening gloves and a cute little spade or perhaps a plant or book. I think you are a very thoughtful young lady.

I know many people that give mother's day gifts to those that have been there for them as a mother would be. These are generally friendships on their own. and it doesn't sound like that exists btn you.
So I'd sayno if your giving the gift with the intent or feeling that she will someday be your mother-in-law....this would put to much pressure on this young relationship.
However giving her a card - especially a hand made one telling her how special she is to you would be very appropriated.

Just a pretty card would be enough. Find one that says, "To Someone Special on Mother's Day." Write a nice note inside that tells her how much you appreciate her kindness.

it's very appropriate. i wouldn't get anything personal as you don't know her that well yet but, flowers or a houseplant are always nice. she'll love it.
