I have never had a cat. I like an animal that cuddles and will come to you and let you pet it. Tell me please about the nature of a cat. Thanks

Every cat has its own personality. Some cats are conceided, and others are very friendly and playful. I love cats and they are definitely wonderful pets. Cats love to be pet, and there are cats that will follow you everywhere like a dog. It really depends on the personality of the cat.

For example, my cat likes to be pet whenever she wants to. If I approach her, a lot of times she would walk away. So in this case I always have to wait for her to approach me so that I could pet her.

However, my neighbor has a cat who likes to be pet 24/7 and would follow him everywhere. He was very sweet and very playful.

I started to think that maybe males are a lot sweeter than female cats. So, who knows if sex plays a role...

Also, the best thing about cats is that they are very independent and don't depend on you as much as a dog does when it comes to walking them outside. Cats are extremely intelligent, and if you keep the cat inside your house, it is guaranteed you will not see a bug in your house!

But yes, definitely get a cat! they are adorable!!

That's a hard one to answer, as to whether a cat is for you. Personally, I couldn't live without a cat. But do cats cuddle, well, some do some don't. If you want a cat that cuddles you would definetly want a male, you have a much better chance for a cuddle cat with a male. Will it come to you, only when it feels like it, they are very independent, but they are small and you can always go fetch it and hopefully it will be in the mood to play or sit. They are easy animals as they don't have to be looked after like dogs, you can leave them alone for hours or a day or two.
But you have to remember the cat owns you, you do not own the cat. They can be wonderful companions and a lot of fun. They love to play and do silly things all the time and can keep you amused for hours. but they aren't dogs, they aren't there at your beck and call, they will not come when called and will not always be at your side. It's your call as to what you want in an animal.

I have a 2 yr. old cat and a 3 yr. old dog, and I love them both. However, the cat requires much less maintenance and is not destructive like my dog. Most cats are cuddly, but not all are lap buddies. Check into Animal Planet's website to learn about cat breeds and which ones are generally more affectionate. Except for Persians, most long haired cats are not lap buddies because they stay so warm all the time. Each breed of cat has certain levels of energy and affection. For instance, the Siamese are very active, nosy and noisy. The Persian is very laid back, but not lazy, and not as noisy as the Siamese.

If you decide to adopt a cat, it will be hard to determine the personality of it at the shelter. Most of the time, there is too much noise to allow the cat to be comfortable and behave normally. Make sure to ask if you can go to a quiet room for several minutes to observe the cat's behavior.

I have four cats. It all depends on the cats attitude at the particular moment weather it will stay in your lap or not. Also cats have different traits. Some like affection, others are aloof. If you go to your local humane society you should be able to pick one out that is a lap cat. The cat shelter in my area has a room you can take the cat into and sit down. If the cat stays in your lap it will probably do the same in your home. Be prepared to have a cat on you quite alot though, but only when it wants to be on you. Even the most friendly cat has it's moments of aloofness.

Most cats fit this description exactly. It is better in a sense to get a kitten because they can be 'molded' to a point and you can get them used to your style of affection. However, there are lots of older cats you can adopt as well that have the personality that suits you. Cats are as individual as humans. I strongly recommend shelters and rescues because there are so many homeless cats getting euthanized every day. Most cats in these places are mixed breeds.

Breed is also something to take into consideration. If you must have a purebred, find a reputable breeder and ask lots of questions, because there are unique characteristics associate with breeds i.e. Siamese are loud and attached to you, Bengals are playful and affectionate, but are not always lap cats and can destroy a house if bored, etc.

A few 'pros' about cats is they are less work than dogs, cost less to take care of and rentals are more likely to allow cats than dogs.

Cats make great pets and they are pretty easy to take care of. I have two that sleep with me every night. Some are more affectionate than others, but even my older cat likes to play. What is nice with cats is that you can be away from them during the day for work or school and they can entertain themselves.

Cats can fall at either end of the spectrum...completely independent, coming to humans for food and shelter only...or completely dependent on your love and affection. I think if your goal is find a loving and cuddly cat, then you should start at a shelter. Kittens are alot of fun and great, but there's little ways of telling how their temperment's going to be when the're older. I'd suggest going to a shelter and adopting a young cat. Even if nervous, you'd be able to tell if the cat's a good fit for you.

Good luck!

Cats are good pets because I have a cat and my cat is very friendly. Lots of people have cats as their pets. I got my cat on1999 and I still have her. She only has back claws.
Some cats act differently. My cat does not like being neer other cats. Cats purr when you pet them.
If you get a cat, you can buy toys at a pet store.
I bought a cat toy that you put catnip inside and you close it and my cat would get very frisky.

I like kittens because they are small and cuddly.

I'm not a cat lover, and here's why. They only pretend to like you when they want something (to be let outside, food, water, whatever). For fun and games, they claw the hell out of your furniture. For no other reason than boredom! Males like to... shall we say... mark their territory? One more thing: Hairballs. Wet and cold. Feels good on bare feet in the middle of the night if you get up to use the restroom.

I'd get a dog if I were you. Most breeds match what you're asking for.

If you like a pet like that, a cat does suit you. My cat follows me all around the house. I don't even have to call it.
