run the "System Preferences" utility
click on the "International (flag) icon in the top row.
click the "Input Menu" tag.
scroll down until you find "Hebrew", click on the box beside it.

From that point on, you will have a flag in the menu bar at the top of the screen beside the clock. After opening Microsoft Word, choose the flag for the language you want to type in. Experiment with which key makes which character.
