I think it's perfectly fine with a large print on it. Nobody will mistake you for the bride if you're wearing a dress with flowers all over it.
Although probably I'd pick up on the green in the dress and find some cute strappy green sandals to wear with it.

There is one color that you should not wear as someone attending a wedding and that is white. The dress you are describing sounds appropriate minus the sweater. It is giong to be August why would you wear a sweater? I guess if you must wear a sweater go with a purple or green but not white

I'd check with the bride. If you can. I've always been told white is for the bride. If it is more green/purple then other colors you can make the call yourself I guess. But I think you'd be safer if you are concerned at being taken wrong to ask the bride, and if you can't go shopping for a new dress. (that is if you are still unsure about your desicion.)
Kudos on being sensitive to the fact. :P At least your being polite and considerate.

Proper etiquette is only the Bride wears white. pick another color.
Most People don't think any thing of it but some will get really offended even if they don't say anything to your face.
it is better to just stay away from white at a wedding.

Sure, the dress would be fine, but you may want to consider buying either a purple sweater or green sweater to go with it.

Sounds beautiful, but nix the white sweater and shoes. Consider some sandals in one of the colors and a lightweight shawl that matches.

I have never seen a problem with wearing white to a wedding, especially if its got a pattern on it, like yours does. any bride who would get mad about that needs to grow up. I let my guests wear whatever they wanted to my wedding. I just wouldnt get a sweater for it if its an august wedding...too hot!

I would try to avoid anything that has a main color of white. Get like a pastel colored dress. If you really want to wear this dress ask the bride if she likes it and if she thinks it would be appropriate for the wedding. Can't go wrong if you ask.

If you wear that dress you will never be comfortable because of your doubts. Get something else, with colors.
