You power comes from your legs. You must swivel or pivot to get any force on the punches. Generally you will see more of a pivot on hooks.

Boxers swivel around on their lead foot when throwing power punches, specifically hooks and straights. This allows them to bring the entire weight of their body to the punch for a more devastating result - mostly a knockout! Tyson is a prime example of a fighter who always pivot on his lead foot when throwing his left hook and right cross. The result? Just ask his KO victims.

Swivelling on your lead foot gets you out of the path of the punches. If you swivelled on your rear foot, you wouldn't be facing your opponent.

When there in the disco after they just won a fight, haha you should swivel on your support foot, harder to get knocked over, easier to launch attacks.

when u want to add more force to ur punches, its best to pivot on ur feet. u wud probably take a half step foward when u giv a right hook (orthodox fighters) from the force u took off with on ur foot. basically...its to add more force to ur punches. but its better to pivot on ur rear foot...gives u more force.

Gotta give Bundini a thumbs up for this one, it's done to get leverage on a punch.
