The best thing to do is talk with your twins and ask them if it bothers them. Some twins love the idea of being twins and they think it is funny especially parents when they cant tell who is who.another thing you can do if their boys call him buddy,he will answer and he will never know you were confused who was who.or if the twins are girls call her sunshine.Trust me they will never know you were confused.

If you're retarded its ok. Otherwise just say Hi - and no name. Or hi where's your shadow today? but the older twins get the less they want it pointed out that they are not individuals. I work with a lot of twins - I'm in the education system - and believe me its cute to be called a twin when you are little but as life goes on it can just be annoying.

Definately NOT! I know a set of twins and they like to be known as individuals! I knew one for a while and she'd address her twin as her sister, not twin - so when I met her you'd imagine how surprised I was! So the answer is, treat them as individuals, they'd rather you ask "which one are you?" in a nice way of course, than be called "twin"

Most twins really do not like nor appreciate that term once they are of a certain age and maturity. So, me personally I would just be honest and say "Hey There, which one are you Jake or John" But that's just me.
I found that they enjoy tricking people so that is just the nature of twins having some good clean fun.

no, they are two seperate people. Thats like someone going up to a nonmultiple child and saying "Hi single" I'm a faternal twin but I hate being called "Alison's twin," or something like that. I mean HELLO I have a name ya know.

That seems rude... do you ever see them together? If yes, check their eyes - I've found that one twin is slightly heavier in almost every case and has "puffy" eyes - meaning not as clearly defined. It might be only a few lbs. difference in weight but check it out = much nicer to say their name!

Just say I'm sorry It's difficult for me to tell you apart , are you Sally or Sara?
They'll appreciate your honesty and directness. It's not like they don't understand that to the untrained eye they are identical....
