why has my cockatiel stopped taking what can i do to make him talk again?

I am not an expert on birds, but my teacher has a cockatiel and she told us a lot about them. She said that if they stop talking you should say whatever they used to say every time you come in the room. Tell your family members too. Everyone has to say it when they come in.
