Just spend time with him. Keep him busy with other things. Depends on what he likes to do... but you could go to the movies, go camping/fishing, mountain biking, hiking, go to the mall, just hang with him.

The only thing you can do is ask if he needs help or wants to talk. Don't keep asking if he doesn't want to, but just be there. Eventually, he'll talk or get better on his own. If this was an intense relationship, you may want to keep a close eye on him. For the first several days, make sure he isn't alone due to the whole suicide aspect of things. I'm not suggesting that he would, but I like to be prepared for the worst.
At this point, as I said before, be a friend, stick close, and assure him that talking helps and try to get his feelings out in the open, okay? Good luck!

distract him... go out, party, get drunk...
From my experience, guys heal emotionally much MUCH quicker then girls...
