I work with a gentleman that is British. Took him about 8 years worth of paperwork to get over here if I remember correctly what he told me.
I think Americans like the British because we somewhat have a common language between us - tho not always.

Many American women are immediately fond of a man with a British accent -- that is true. If you are not hideous, you will have no trouble getting dates. Have you seen that scene in the movie, "Love Actually"? It is a bit like that, I am sorry to say.
Marriage is another story though -- you'll still have to fill the usual requirements: reasonable job, kindness, honesty, humor, etc. to get a girl to marry you. A British man marrying an American girl may find there is more cultural difference than you might expect. We do share a common language but you will still have to get through some stiff obstacles to make that marriage work. Unless of course you can find that special girl for whom the charm of the British voice will overshadow any difficulty. :D Having lived in both countries, I must tell you that American girls are more different from what you're used to than you might think.

Go to the American Embassy in London to find out how to move. California - San Diego is a good spot - a large British Colony there To meet Americans sign up at a local college so you get to know Americans & train for a decent job.

Yes, most Americans would welcome you! C'mon over the pond!!
One of my math professors was British. He always came to class in a sweatshirt and jeans. He'd spend the whole class time writing notes on the board at record speed and had more energy than most Americans!! The few moments he wasn't writing, he'd bounce around the front of the room. I enjoyed the courses I took with him. He is extremely knowledgeable about math and has published several textbooks and journal articles.
You may need a sponsor to get a green card to work here. I don't know what's involved. Good luck to you.

Are you British? Its too late. The open borders for your people ended early last century. If you immigrate to Mexico and become a Mexican citizen you may have a chance. I suggest going to Mexico.
