0%, there is nothing Australia can do because the effect you have on normal temperature fluctuations in less than miniscule.
You could reduce your energy use to zero, eliminate 100% of the CO2 reduction, and in fact you could just eliminate entirely all life on the continent and it will have ZERO effect.
So there you have it. Doesn't that make you feel better.

20 million people even at 6 tons per person energy use
can not make a huge impact on global warming when you compare it to the US at 250 million using 8 tons per person
rough estimate 90% of 1/10 the energy use of the US is still less than 9% effect on the world. Add in all the other countries and this would drop significantly. End result even if you totally stopped breathing down there, the effect would be > .1% on global warming.
But, you know what "THEY" say every little bit helps.
By the way 90% of all statistics are made up.

It is none .U are like the US we are so small compared to the world it could not be measured.
The environmentalist selected 2 gases as the big green house gas problem.
The first was CO2 because we burn too much fossil fuels ,wrong . God when he made this place put in some automatic recycle schemes. The first was the plants and photosynthesis . That is to recycle our air and does a very good job . The environmentalist totally discounts Gods work .
Then very similar is methane a very light gas which will rise very high in our atmosphere. Well there is a lot of methane that is produced but then it just disappears. They will tell u that there is a huge lake in our upper atmosphere but where. We have all kinds of planes flying and mussels going up , oh!! methane is very explosive . and hasn't exploded yet, where did it go. If the gases are not there neither is global warming.

About 1.5%.
Look at this list of 212 countries. Australia's 15th. A serious player, but not in the same league with the US and China, of course. They do kick New Zealand's butt of course. 68th. :-)

Global warming needs everyone help to fix. Of course the US, China, Russia, and India have to pull their weight. There are a few hopeful signs that will happen.
Australia does have the 3rd highest emissions per person in the world. This site discusses the situation country by country in detail. Australia burns a lot of coal, which is the worst fossil fuel for greenhouse gas production.
But the only way this will work is that at least the top 50 countries all agree to work together. Preferably all. Any slacker could ruin the whole thing.
We need a new treaty. The Montreal Protocol to protect ozone worked. Kyoto didn't.

A 90% decrease in energy usage would plunge Australia back into the stone age.

Bugger all!
But as a developed nation we have to take a lead along with the others to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
It's not about reducing energy usage, it's about moving to non polluting sources.

Don't know the figures but they are subbing fluorescent fixtures for incandencent. The increase in mercury caused by improper disposal of the mercury containing units will make for its own interesting effects on their environment.
