there are only 3 countries right now at war.which is Iraq and Palestine and southern Sudan. are people forgetting that there are a ton of other countries in the middle east? generally middle eastern countries have lower homicide rates than London and Detroit. isn't it sad how people listen to everything they hear and see on TV.

and please for bashers if you never been to the middle east don't bother answering.because you can't insult a place unitl you have been there yourself

I remember experiencing this on my first trip to Pakistan. I had heard about kidnappings and the people being hostile. So much garbage. When I was finally there, well, I can say that I was holding the back of the driver's seat for dearl life, lol, as the road became bad and he just moved on into oncoming traffic. But other than that, my experience was a great one. They are not hostile and, as you can see, while there I was not even harmed. I also was there when the war in Iraq started. There was one particular story about a blackhawk being shot down. Now, on the Pakistani news, they showed video footage from ALL aspects, and even the people searching for the soldiers and taking them to what looked like a doctor's office. They were not harmed, they were not tortured. Some were being questioned in front of the camera, and all the questions were, were "Who are you? Why are you here?". Nobody was even being injured, and some were eating.

Then I came back to the US. Saw the story about the blackhawk. Except, in the US version, each soldier had been shot on sight and their "burned" bodies dragged through the streets on the back of trucks.

Well, when the news every single day tells us how many people have been blown to bits by terrorist bombers, it's kind of difficult to avoid the impression of widespread violence. However, I don't think anyone mentally extends this image to the entire Middle Eastern region.

Well, at least here in America its because the media tends to focus on the negative events that happen in the Middle East. Unfortunately, since American culture is based on getting everything quickly, (i.e. fast food, fast wealth, fast medical fixes, etc) we have a tendency to rely on the media here to get all our information without bothering to take the time to question the information and research it for accuracy ourselves.

I'm living in middle east for last 9 years I feel myself more secure (alhamdulillah) than in my own country.
I read in news paper that number of attacks on children in UK have increased so much, that people are purchasing knife and bullet proof jackets for their children. Life is not secure in UK and they project their fear in middle east.
