We never see any miracles these days, like the parting of the Red Sea or talking snakes or anything like that. We never see him create any new kinds of living organisms. We only have claims about things that are supposed to have happened thousands or millions of years ago. Why is that, do you suppose?

Maybe he isn't there

Good question - but God is never on strike. The problem seems to be that God's children don't seem to have the faith and love, respect and concern for others as they did back in the days when life was new and just beginning. More miracles were seen and believed which made God's presence and his relationship with 'his' people closer. Additionally, there is nothing 'new' under the sun. God does not have to create anything new. But I firmly and faithfully believe that as we go further into the last days, we shall start to see more miracles, signs and wonders because more people will need to have Jesus in their hearts in order to make it through some of these days which will not be pleasant. (I like the "talking snakes" part.....you know that was old satan disguised. He was probably upright and walking....that's why God banished the 'snake' - which was being used" to the ground.)

No He isn't. The reason why He doesn't do those things is because they wouldn't serve a purpose. He wants people to believe in Him through faith, not through miracles. He wants everyone to see the evidences of his power that are present now. And although God may not do grandiose visible miracles everyday, every growing flower is a miracle, everything around you is the miraculous work of God. Ask a healed person who had no hope if God worked a miracle in their life. Also what about the little things that happen in our life that save us from certain death... miracles! He's there and he works miracles everyday.

How effective are huge visual miracles at bringing people to true faith...?

When Jesus was physically on the earth he did many miracles, and yet there were many people who still doubted, or who only believed while the miracles were taking place. God can do anything, he has a plan.

I love the illustration that if you take a mustard seed (v.small seed) and scientifically strip it down to it's components, and try to put it back together, exactly the same, it will not grow. The mustard seed is so simple, but we can not recreate it, it lacks life. God gives life to everything - which is a miracle!

No, God is not on strike. When God did miracles in the old testament through the prophets, he did them in favor of the people of israel, who at that time truly feared and obeyed him. When they decided to live their own way, and said, "we don't need God" God said, "Okay fine," and not only left them alone, but sent all manner of natural and man-made disasters their way, and stopped working miracles.
Some of the last miracles the world has seen were the ones Jesus performed to show that he was God. Even after Jesus died and was ressurected for our sins, the world still says, "we don't need God."
We (meaning the world), have told God to get out. We all know how it is now: No praying in school, no ten comandments or bible verses on public property, ect.
So God has left, because we drove him out.

I think He does still perform miracles today. We're just to blind to see them. (And most Christians do not believe those things happened millions of years ago). I think maybe He is working on a slightly smaller scale at the present time. Remember, the parting of the Red Sea was to help the Israelites, who are now sitting in Israel. Perhaps the very fact that His chosen people have not been exterminated (as Hitler attempted to do) is a miracle in itself, as is all life.

And why do you have your eyes closed to the miracles that surround you everyday?
The making of a baby so perfect of body, looking like some of its own ancestors, parents, with personality traits of the family!

The fantastic things that exist in the natural world? The wonders of the Universe.

there is no god.its only nature and nature is aways in state change. What we human beings think that life is very precious and to be protected.Nature doesnt think so.it can do without living beings .
Miracles are not necessary to assert presence of god.Concept of god is exists only human beings.there is no god for dogs, cats or chickens.try to face truth.
There wasn't any god to start with.whatever you read in books is written by human beings just to make them docile.who knows what happens when a person dies?Since there is no spirit,no god;there is no use in discussing these things.Ultimately what you see, what you observe is your universe.
good bye

Matthew chapter 12 (NLT)

38 One day some teachers of religious law and Pharisees came to Jesus and said, "Teacher, we want you to show us a miraculous sign to prove that you are from God."
39 But Jesus replied, "Only an evil, faithless generation would ask for a miraculous sign; but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so I, the Son of Man, will be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights. 41 The people of Nineveh will rise up against this generation on judgment day and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. And now someone greater than Jonah is here-and you refuse to repent.

When I pick up the phone, and get a dial tone, I usually assume that there is no one there.
It may be safe to say that if god exists, there would have to be at least some piece of evidence for his existence (which there isn't).

We all want to have these parting seas and burning bushes. If you want to walk on the water, get off the boat! : )
