I haven't seen a lot of repairs on the PHILLIPS line.....
So you would THINK it's reliable overall.....
BUT if the general population ISN'T buying PHILLIPS....then that really throws the percentages off.....
BUT I DO KNOW ONE THING.....WHEN a really Great TV is being made, you can sit outside the store and see one BRAND/MODEL coming out the door one after another....
And when SONY developed the VVEGA flat screen tv....that's all ANYONE was buying......
Got an hour or two?
If not, DECIDE what you WANT your TV to do, get a list together of your desires, list them from HIGHEST to LOWEST priority and hand the sheet to a salesman.....he can show you what fits......
Just make sure you buy a KNOWN brand name over a NEW brand name.....

Depends on the product and who manufactured it. Phillips magnavox products are made by various companies. Most consumer products now are being made by funai corp. For the most part I have never had a problem with any phillips magnavox products I have a Philips DVD Player/DVD combo that is a big piece of junk has been ever since i bought it but i have a philips magnavox 25" tv that is awesome and a philips magnavox DVD recorder that is superb Over all i would give them a 6 or 7 out of 10

Back then, phillips and many other walmart brands lasted 5+ years. Now with trying to make things cheaper, and cheaper they have to cut back on some things to make their prices soo low.
#1 The way they are designed are not very good. Not enough protect circuits, if any at all. The ability to not stress each individual component, will make them last longer also.
#2 When they were cutting down prices on their products for walmart, they have to give up something and that is their support for their product/parts.
#3 Most of the time if its under warranty they will have the parts for you, but if its not, then you dont get any because they are reserving them for the warranty people.
If you looking for a Brand that has good support, parts availibility, great picture and overall better quality this is the brands below.
Sony
Mitsubishi
Hitachi
Pioneer Elite
Toshiba

Philips used to be the best, but what happened, like most of the rest of the companies, is that they have their products made in Communist China to save money. For many years we have been going downhill in the quality of electronic products. The days of research and testing are over. That costs too much money. Now they just slap it on the market and see how many people scream when they break prematurely. We went from American quality to Japanese miniaturization to Malaysia,Mexico,Philippines,Korea, and now the ones who will work the cheapest,Communist China. I am sure they stay up all night worrying about how long our TVs are going to last. Well we wanted cheap products and that's exactly what we got. After all who wants to pay an extra ten dollars for a quality American-made product? Evidently not us we forced all of them out of business. So the Netherland -based company Philips is no worse than the others today. They are so big that you see a lot of complaints because they sell a lot of products worldwide. Philips recently lowered their amount of money that they pay their servicenters and now a lot of them refuse to work on their products at this reduced rate. After all the Chinese don't demand so much money. Who do we think we are anyway! Americans?
