Tricky but not impossible. We just need to have a coherent, joined-up policy for identification and enforcement. It requires co-operation of federal, state and local law enforcement and of employers.

Riddle me this Batman
How hard would it be to legalize them? How much would it cost?
You hear a lot of rhetoric aimed at how costly it would be to deport and how difficult but nothing about how much it would cost to legalize. Follow the link to get a perspective of just how costly and humanly impossible an amnesty would be to implement.

Now what is easier? Either you are here legally or you are not. If you are not then get on the bus.
Remember, we have done this twice before. During the Great Depression and in the 50's under Dwight Eisenhower.
Those programs were successful, the blanket amnesty of 1986 was an utter and complete failure.

Before ANY comprehensive reform should be attempted we must start with a clean slate. We must get rid of all of the illegals here. We must seal the borders so that no more can sneak in. We must remove all of the incentives to come here INCLUDING all of our governments look the other way policies.

We as Americans must follow the rules and, for the most part, we do. We should not expect any less from immigrants yet past and current administrations somehow think a lesser and double standard is acceptable.

If you are a native born, naturalized citizen, or a LEGAL immigrant then one set of very strict rules apply. However, if you are here ILLEGALLY then a second, less stringent set of rules apply. Now where is the logic in that?

Deport them ALL. It will be less expensive and it is the RIGHT thing to do.

If they did what was done in the 50's it would be serious enforcement and crackdowns with the result being an inhospitable place for illegals, then others leave.

It would be tricky and expensive but less expensive than keeping them and letting in their relatives too - especially with our experience after the 1986 amnesty that those amnestied don't seem to feel their family should have to wait until the paperwork and visa slots are available.

No legalization of any sort should be considered without solving the problem going forward. Laugh at a fence if you will, but bottlenecks will be a better result than no impact at all which would result the next time people wanted border agent $ to go to a different priority, and we already know that when smugglers pee on the Boeing sensors, they no longer work.

We need the visa exit tracking system in place. We need clear outlawing of sanctuary cities and to ask and enforce at all logical points.

They aren't discussing the real preventative measures in either of the comprehensive plans which convinces me that BOTH are mere smoke screens to get what the politicians want for their donors, while the problem only grows, inspired by the most massive amnesty ever to occur on the face of the planet.

Very possible and desirable. Easy ?..No but it can be done. First and foremost we must seal/secure our borders by any means available. Then place a 5 to 10 year moratorium on legal immigration (until the illegal alien problem is solved) Then begin the identification, locating and
systematic deportation of all the illegals that refused to leave during a set voluntary time.
Costly ? Yes ! But in the long run it would save the USA billions if not trillions of dollars .
Yes the impact on Mexico would be devastating but they should have thought of that before they encouraged their people to come to the US illegally.
Look at the devastating impact the illegals have caused this nation.America must do whats best for America and Americans.

Impossible and I'll tell you why. 1st,we would need citizens to band together to report the illegals. 2nd, we would need the feds to remove they re heads from the asses of the special interest groups. 3rd, we would have to have facility's for the holding of the illegals before they are deported. 1 and 3 are possible no. 2 is not.

For the UK, it would be problematic, but not impossible. The round-ups, raids, and stop-checks required would totally wreck community relations. The economy would be damaged by the loss of so many people propping it up doing jobs no-one else will touch - ironically, we'd probably end up importing loads more East Europeans to do the same work. Then there's the money cost of detaining, processing, and removing so many people - not to mention the human costs to them - human beings after all - and their friends and families who may be UK citizens. Also, there would be a loss to the third world countries currently benefitting from remittances.

Alternatively, we could give an amnesty to those who have been here trouble-free for a few years. I say, live and let live.

I sure it would be difficult, but it can be done. Look in the obvious places, Wal*Mart, K-Mart, Landscaping Companies, Dollar Stores. Also close down all the Citco's and subsidaries since their Chariman is an American Hater.

VERY difficult, but worthwhile. I'd like to see some of my taxes going towards such a project. I'd even accept a job which entailed hunting them down and expelling them.

Really difficult when you have idiots in immigration not knowing where or how many there are.. also when they are handing out passports to terrorists who have given false names and information..

This country is going to the dogs.. Those in charge couldn't organise a day trip to the seaside let alone run this country how it should be run..

It would be easy...if people used common sense to do it! Stop hiring them, there would be no incentive.. AND Use the Janet Reno method, used at Ruby Ridge and WACO....
