Not easily. I am assuming your neighbor has part of the tubing of the invisible fencing on the property line that borders your yard, therefore if they activated heir fence once again your dog will get shocked when trying to enter your neighbors yard, and your neighbors dogs will get shocked trying to enter your yard. You have a few options. 1) You can have the company clip the tubing that lines the border of both properties and re-route it so there is no fencing along the property line, which is $$!!!; 2) The company can try to connect the fencing, but remeber, both your fences will be on seperate electrical systems unless you have them attempt to combine the two lines (which again, is expensive and a lot more work because there are two properties involved); 3) Have the company rip out your neighbors invisible fencing and put in a whole new system which includes your yard; 4) Get a taller fence since you have an athletic dog. I have two large breed dogs and my fence is 7 feet so they can't clear it. Good luck!

If your neighbor has the Invisible Fence brand then yes the system can be connected. Both of the dogs collars have to be the same frequency to keep the dogs with in the boundaries of the fence.
I've had the Invisible Fencing here on my 1 acre property and I have 2 big Golden's and it has worked great.
If the fence is a store brand that is self installed then it may not be possible to connect the two yards.
Call the Invisable Fence company and see what they recomend. This type of fencing is very big around me here and all my friends have it so we all had our dogs collars set for the same frequency so we can bring them into each others yards so they can play together and be safe.

There are already good answers here. So I'm just going to point out one drawback to the invisible fences. Dogs quickly learn that the pain is brief and will run right through it and out of the yard when motivated, and yelping all the way out. However, motivation to get back into the yard is never as strong, so you end up with a dog sitting outside his yard staring in. BUT-I'd give it a try. Technically it's totally possible and you don't need to hire anyone to do it, just read the instructions. Have fun.

I think all you would need to do is install the wire in your yard where you want the dogs to have access. Then cut the wire in your neighbors yard and connect the wires in your yard to theirs. You wouldn't need your own control box, just use the one they already have. Your just making one big fence the covers both yards.
Then you need a collar for you dog that works with the neighbors fence. You will need to train both dogs where the boundary is.

I don't like the invisible fence or those shock collar!
Would you beat your dog to get him to stay in your yard? The "shock" those things give is unreal! Very painful. Try one on yourself before using it on your dog. Those things are just plain cruel.

you shouldn't get an invisible fence because you might not be able to see the fence. you should probably get a shock colar. it comes with flags you can put up in your yard. when your dog passes the flags, it gets a shock. the shock doesn't hurt at all put it gives your dog strange feeling, but don't be alarmed.

Check with the manufacturer for compatibility. You may have to remove the section that adjoins the property. Then check the freq on fence and monitor.
