It seems Iran is doing all these things because it know it has a really good defensive possition. They seem confident they'd be able to defend any invasion, any attack that isn't nuklear.

The UK would launch an endless series of air strikes on every military target in Iran. After about 3 days of this there wouldn't be much left. No way the UK or US would even consider a ground war, as that would be just Iraq all over again, only worse! And, of course, nukes are ruled out here too.

How about B-52's loaded with conventional 10,000 pounders and good old battle ships shelling with new 18 inchers! what about SAS troops with a few lend lease Garret .50 cals
or laser guided bombs for certain fanatical leaders in a surgical attack ala saddam's sons! choose your non nuclear option I even heard a idea of a couple of thousand rabid pit bulls with AIDS dropped in the presidential compound
