It is what you make it. If you merely want entertainment go play a video game. When one gets into the study of His Word, and delves into the life and times, the reasons why something was said or done, or the meaning of a particular word or phrase, one finds a whole new dimension to the text. I have the pleasure of conducting Bible studies for the family. I involve each of them and get their thoughts and opinions on a matter and then give an answer supported by scripture. We order pizza and have a grand time. The last one was over two hours.

You probably saw Harold Camping or someone like that. Real Bible studies are much more fun and exciting as you investigate the truths of the Scriptures and gain an awareness of how God is a personal God who cares about each one of us and is at work in this world calling people to repent of their sins and to become his eternal children through faith in Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

I have been to bible studies where there are 1000's of people who listen from early morning to late night and they enjoy every moment of it. They listen because they hear the answers to the problems that they have faced in life for years. Sure there are boring teachers but not all of them are that way. I would guess that you never really listened to what the person on TV was saying. Maybe if you really listened and might find it interesting also.

In high school, I would occationally go to church with my best friend on Wensday nights. She had a youth leader at the time that was really cool. He tried his best to keep us teens very interested in bible study and we had some really cool debates about the bible. Another friend of mine is a youth minister at her church, once a month the teens get to challenge the adult class to a trivia game on the bible. If you keep an open mind about a lot of things it can be okay even if it's not your cup of tea.

I go to a Bible study on Monday nights. It's a lot of fun. You can't just assume that one Bible study you saw on TV is indicative of all Bible studies everywhere.

yes, we have been to all kinds of bible studies. If you are looking for one to attend, u should look for one in which the leader teaches the Word of God and follows the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Not all bible studies are like that; the ones at the church I go to certainly aren't

Yes. I was raised catholic, but since I was a teenager I had doubts. During college I went to a few "bible studies" because I wanted to have sexual intercourse with this one honey-bunny who invited me (God did not bless my intentions). They sat around talking about stories of the bible and prayed. I sat with an erection praying I would see her naked. I was told to go in peace and love my brother, but I really wanted to be fruitful and multiply.

Yeah, but there were no old prunes there. But I still found it a bit boring because the people who were there really didn't make it fun.
