I am not a pro-war person necessarily. I am a Democrat that could get behind a war if it was not just in our self, but an act of self-preservation...neither of which is proved to me re: Iraq. But with Iran, how do you feel about your people in the hands of those idiot Iranians. This issue has gotten me a bit peeved and I'm a Liberal American...tell me how you feel...appreciate it

you have to check out the links provided by "Wonka". The Iranians are doing all sorts of crazy crap. they tried to capture a group of US soldiers and Iraqis ON THE IRAQI SIDE OF THE BORDER and a firefight broke out...several Iraqis were killed and at least one Iranian, no US soldiers injured...this was an attemped snatch that backfired. this was a more even battleground than the at "sea situation" and the Americans simply retreated under fire as they were trained to do. The Iranians want hostages.

Great nickname btw, nice to see another Douglas Adams fan about.

We want our sailors home, but it's not worth going to war over. Even if they get sent to trial and whatever the outcome (as tragic as it may be) Iran will only serve to further isolate itself from the global community (and as such the global economy).

Even current trading partners like China and Russia will turn away from a nation that takes illegal hostages and executes them (should it come to that).

I think a more likely outcome is that, if military action is taken against Iran it will be in the form of massive airstrikes from the USA/UK and will target the nuclear facilities.

If we don't do it one can almost be certain that Israel will - sailors or not.

I can only speak for myself, and the answer is: puzzled. I'm sure that they're working the diplomatic contacts as hard as they can, and Brits are typically good at this kind of diplomacy, but at the same time we've had so many years of being deceived by the current (and previous) government that it's hard to know what's going on.

As far as the people themselves are concerned: my heart goes out to them, but I can take some small comfort in the knowledge that they will have been well-trained and that they are still being kept together as a group.

It's a pride thing

They should say "ok, enough is enough" and send the lads home to their families - it's getting to be another Vietnam - there are no winners in this one.
