I actually give up about 10% of my annual income for charity work, and I do not own a car. I have lived for months without indoor plumbing, but choose not to do so now. Even when I am on my extended backpacking trips, I wash every day with soap. Believe it or not, I also know about toothpaste, deodorant, and nail polish! I mostly buy high quality used clothing and conveniences, but occasionally treat myself to something new and silky and luxurious. I avoid pre-packaged food as my stomach cannot tolerate the preservatives- thanks for asking such a personal question. It's actually cheaper to buy food in bulk, and I am a very good cook who can create gourmet meals for a fraction of the restaurant cost. My sauces, marinades, salsas, and seasonings tend to be far better than what you buy in a jar- ask anyone who ever tried my mango glazed roasted chicken with lime, pepper and garlic marinade. As for fire- I would bet that I can make a fire under conditions where you would have given up long before getting a spark to ignite.
I am educated, articulate, and get invited to speak at international professional conferences. I travel by foot, public transit, car pool, taxi, car, and plane; as the situation requires. I lead a corporate ethics committtee. I spend half of my vacation time using my work skills to help people living in poverty determine their own futures. Oh yeah, and I'm a registered Independent. Do you consider me a liberal?
What about you- have you refinanced your home to buy your flat screen tv? Do you secretly have an undocumented worker doing your laundry? Do you cheat on your taxes? Do you drive a Hummer? Don't judge me and I won't judge you, ******!
Life is about choices- pure and simple. Go criticize something worth criticizing. Only fools and radicals want to revert to the Stone Age, and only fools and radicals think that anyone who wants to leave a smaller "footprint" is a dirty Hippie.

What does being an environmentalist have to do with being a leftie??? Caring about the planet doesn't make someone a radical liberal. It makes them a smart steward of a borrowed piece of land. Most environmentalists have no desire to send everyone back to living in huts and bathing in rivers. Most environmentalists believe in the theory of moderation. Electricity, mass transit, automobiles, even nuclear power are all good things. But we can't be gluttonous with them. No one is suggesting we give up modern conveniences or live on a commune. The message here is that with even a moderate reduction in fossil fuel use we can reverse the damage done so far and leave the planet in pretty good shape for future generations. Why do people have such a hard time with that concept? Puzzling, truly puzzling.

I don't know what I call myself on the political front...that's why I'm answering this. I vote for the person and what she/ he stands for at election times. I don't believe in straight ticket politics, though in the past I've done it as a requirement. In the sense that I vote for the person not the party, I'm a liberal. I couldn't live the way your explanation describes. Nothing against the Amish, I just don't want to try the lifestyle. Your description parallels their lifestyle as closely as anything I've seen recently.

You do realize of course that 100 watt light bulbs will either a) blow up your fixture, which is likely only max rated to 60 watts or b) eventually meltdown your circuits and destroy your service? Or were you just using them to thumb your nose at the "greenies" despite personal detriment?

Since when do Liberals live without "indoor plumbing and soap?" I think your question is more a reflection of the narrow mindedness of Conservatives than a real reflection on Liberals.

The argument handy isn't asserting that all of us might desire to get off oil good this 2nd, some do yet they're needless to say out of touch. The argument is that we would desire to come returned up with a thank you to produce potential that would not remember so heavily on oil so as that when the oil runs out, we should not be caught unprepared. So my question back is why do no longer cons easily attempt to fund determination potential examine instead of asserting that our answer would be in simple terms locate extra places to drill. that's in fact a stall, and would not resolve the issue that oil WILL run out. yet all of us comprehend why conservatives won't try this. via fact they're all subsidized via oil businesses!!! If we easily locate those determination potential ingredients, then via god, their total base will initiate thoroughly out of date. what's going to they do as quickly as we don't desire those adult males anymore? they're going to in all likelihood attempt and swing it to make it appear like it replaced into their theory all alongside!

What a far out scenario. Did you hear, John Travolta has any number of air planes. And uses them. No we have been thrown back to the buying of indulgences. It was outlawed in the church, should be outlawed in politics and life.
