No. It is mostly non-toxic. Look at the labeling. It is especially NOT harmful to your skin. My kids are three and six and my mom-in-law bought them one. My six year old busted it and told my three year old that it was medicine and made him drink it. (sibling rivalry lol) We called poison control and she said you wouldn't beleive how many calls they get for that, but it is harmless. We just gave him some water to wash the taste out of his mouth and he was fine.

God Bless

Glow sticks are not toxic. They can however be mildly irritating to the skin.

Glow Sticks are non-toxic, they are intended for external use only and are not to be consumed or ingested. In case of accidental contact with skin or eye, flush with cool water for 15 minutes. http://www.berniesglowsticks.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=2

Last year I was twisting one and all this stuff came out on my hands. As long as you don't get it in your body you'll be fine.
