Someone I know needs petrol money (This person is very trustworthy) Unfortunately on their travels they had to spend money on repairs to their car so have run out of money I would like to pay for their petrol (by the way this person is many miles from where I live at the moment) but is it safe to give my credit card number over the phone to the gas station owner to pay for this person`s petrol

Not at all. Go to a Western union and send them the money direct. Make sure they need no ID to pick it up. Ask the Western Union rep for help. Please do not give your CC # over the phone.

Have you got any proof that this gas station person is who he says.
I agree get your friends account details and wire him/her the money.
failing that "i'm really sorry i have no money i can't help you"!!!
