Do you actually believe that people can't experience love and joy unless they follow a particular path? That seems pretty obviously incorrect to me.
As for 'forgiveness', forgiveness from what? I presume that you don't mean when I step on my wife's toes so exactly what is it I am supposed to have done to be forgiven for and by whom?
Heaven? Got that. Here and now and not in some imagined 'hereafter'. Where's your heaven then?
Good starting question for a newbie. But you're going to have to improve considerably if you want to preach to the unconverted. Oh, and the implied dig about intelligence isn't likely to endear you. Hope that helps. Live long and prosper.

Joy and love? No. Joy and love are our birthright, the natural state we hide behind walls of self-image.
Forgiveness? That's something you do for others to hide tha it is really for setting yourself free. God does not need to forgive you, and no one needs forgiveness. However, we all need to forgive (though that doesn't mean giving up being safe or trusting them again) to leave problems behind and get on with our lives. Not forgiving means carrying around a source of self-inflicted pain (they are probably long gone as the cause of the problem).
Heaven? I live there. Every day.

You've loaded your question to suggest atheists know heaven exists and have rejected it. Atheists know there is no heaven.
On the other hand I'm an atheist and I've got joy and love, and people forgive me when I do something wrong (rather than suggesting I need forgiveness just for being human).

Tell you what, you provide us with ONE single, credible (remember that word, it's VERY important) shred of evidence that supports your sky-pixie or the magical candy-land you call heaven, and maybe I'll give it some thought.
The fact that NONE of you have been able to do so in the last 2000 years speaks volumes about your credibility.

Three out of four of those things you can get from your family -- either the one you're born into or the one you make for yourself. As for the last, there's no evidence that any such place exists.
Telling nonbelievers that they're gonna "miss out on heaven" is like telling a man who has just crawled out of the desert on his hands and knees that he may not have a peanut butter sandwich.
