A rhetorical question if you already know the answer you want, and which you then give - and thus pointless.

Muhammad, the prophet of the Islam religion. Islam is the largest religion in the world... despite what you may think. I happen to be Protestant Lutheran and I still feel that Muhammad has changed more lives and cause more things to happen than any other historical figure. Unfortunately, Islam was presented to the ancestors of the Persians (the originators of terrorism), and not the rest of the world because in all actuality, Islam is a VERY peaceable religion (unlike the Old Testament of the Judeo-Christian Bible, which is full of violence and atrocities committed by the "chosen ones.")

Well the fact that jesus is a mythological character pretty much takes him out of the running.
The fact is, there is no credible evidence to show that this person ever existed in real life. The more research that is done (I know, that word is hated by christians) the more we realize that jesus is an amalgam of two to four people from bronze age sub-roman middle east.

There are many throughout histroy that can fill that void as reminders for many religions. Lately, it is Ghandi for hinduism, Martin Luther King Jr for christianity, Maclom X for islam, Bob Marley for rastafarianism, etc. When the Dali Lama passes on, he will be the reminder for buddhism. There are always reminders. If you want just one for all of mankind, there can not be such a thing. For none but GOD himself can fill that void. And no, the christ is the messiah. Not GOD. And fyi, people have sufferred way worse deaths than him(so they say). Mostly by those whom are of the christian faith. PEACE!

How can you ask a question and tell us what answer you want?
And what question are you asking? Who changed more lives or gave more hope? Hitler sure changed people's lives. So did Jesus. Both gave hope to some and fear and torment to others.
But I suppse if I had to pick a few, it would be Ghandi, Socrates, Shakespeare or JFK. And maybe the FSM.

Well I can think of many - Mahathma Gandhi for one. Why not start with the greeks and the great romans - see even in Troy they died for love ya ? Jesus - hmm... well he did mess the place up - there is no love in this world today because of him.. so Jesus is not the best answer
