what if a girl gets complimented on her looks all the time, she might think i'm boring and ununique

Well personally, I prefer it if a guy starts a conversation first. Obviously, you think she is pretty if you are asking her out, so saying it might be unnecessary. Either way, I would suggest starting some kind of conversation first before asking for a date. :) Good Luck!

That sounds honest, simple, and refreshing. Usually I volunteer to take a girl out to a movie, but that is only my preference.

i would feel really awkward if a guy said "you look really pretty" to me and then asked me to dinner... there's just something kind of creepy about it.

After you say your name allow her to introduce herself then finish your sentence.And it is very sweet not pushy I would say yes.
