The organising principle was to further the preaching of the good news of the Kingdom as started by Jesus, to build and encourage each other up (Heb 10:24,25) and to enable the early christians to be united in word and deed.

A better question would be what was the passion of the early church? The answer is Christ. The demise of the early church happened when the focus of the primary message was shifted away from the Christ and onto "the vessel". That is why today's milk toast western church is so focused on fixing the vessel and knows/teaches nothing of the passion of the Christ.

The King was number one in power and the Church was number two. People were given a parcel of land to work. What was produced, 50% went to the King, 40% went to the Church and the people had to live on the leftover crumbs. Lots of unhappy people back then.
