I usually press the specific key with whatever finger im comfortable with. Also I would feel kinda cramped just being stationary all the time. Just looking at someones hands when they type, I understand why they have carpal tunnel.

Anyways, i'm an adult, but I feel that if I use something Mavis Beacon, I wouldn't have fun learning how to type. Is there any other programs out their that are fun, thorough, but not childish?

Lastly why is it that the "proper" way of typing still results in carpal tunnel. Does it only inflict women or people with dainty hands? Does to happen to everyone regardless? Is there a safe "speed limit (wpm)" that would prevent carpal tunnel from developing? Do ergonomics keyboards really work, and should I just start my learning using them?

Carpal tunnel from typing happens supposedly when you rest your wrists on the edge of the computer desk and type. That's what I was taught in school a long time ago at typing classes. Suprisingly my left hand stays stationary and types the correct way, and my right hand just pecks around with two fingers. But I can type 80-90wpm without looking at the keyboard.

Carpel tunnel happens when someone either types in teh wrong position or types all the time.

As for how you type - it really doesn't matter - speed and accuracy counts - I have a good speed with my 'hunt and peck' technique - but I often think I would be much faster if I touch typed.

The games in the Professor teaches Typing are quite good (I'm an adult too) - they keep you watching the screen while you type.

The more you do it the better you'll get. I learned how to type just by doing it. I doubt my fingers are on the right keys, but I type like 120 wpm with minimal error. That is the point.

To prevent health issues, get one of those gel wristrest things. They are awesome.
