Lu 13:10-13 The real attitude of Israel toward the Lord Jesus is seen in the ruler of the synagogue. This official objected that the Savior had healed a woman on the Sabbath. The woman had suffered from severe curvature of the spine for eighteen years. Her deformity was great; she could not straighten herself up at all. Without even being asked, the Lord Jesus had spoken the healing word, had laid His hands on her, and had straightened her spine.
Lu 13:14 The ruler of the synagogue indignantly told the people that they should come for healing on the first six days of the week, but not on the seventh. He was a professional religionist, with no deep concern for the problems of the people. Even if they had come on the first six days of the week, he could not have helped them. He was a stickler about the technical points of the law, but there was no love or mercy in his heart. If he had had curvature of the spine for eighteen years, he would not have minded on which day he was straightened out!
13:15, 16 The Lord reproved his hypocrisy and that of the other leaders. He reminded them that they didn't hesitate to loose an ox or donkey from the stall on the Sabbath in order to let it drink water. If they showed such consideration for dumb animals on the Sabbath, was it wrong for Jesus to perform an act of healing on this woman who was a daughter of Abraham?
The expression “a daughter of Abraham” indicates not only that she was Jewish but also a true believer, a woman of faith.
The curvature of the spine was caused by Satan. We know from other parts of the Bible that some sicknesses are the result of Satanic activity. Job's boils were inflicted by Satan. Paul's thorn in the flesh was a messenger of Satan to buffet him. The devil is not allowed to do this on a believer, however, without the Lord's permission. And God overrules any such sickness or suffering for His own glory.
Lu 13:17 The critics of our Lord were thoroughly put to shame by His words. The common people rejoiced because a glorious miracle had been performed, and they knew it.

That Jesus did what a lot of Tent healers have down through the years. In Luke 13: 11 the PHI Bible gives the fact. I quote, "Had been Ill from some psychological cause." Therefore you have placed the gentle Rebe at the same level as Tent healers that could not heal true afflictions only those that the people thought they had... and they were very good at picking them out.

In my opinion there are different messages to be taken from this passage.
It speaks of a time when people had added so much to God's word, that following it became so complicated, for example you were not supposed to work on the Sabbath and so on, but more and more rules were applied to the extent that for example you could only walk so far on a Sabbath day.
It shows that in a desire to follow the Law to the letter they had forgotten the Spirit behind the Law, and in this example would have no hesitation in helping an animal in distress yet would let a person suffer because to help them was deemed as work.
It shows that when man adds to God's word he gets it wrong and ends up twisting the original message.
Above all it shows that Jesus was compassionate and as one who never sinned He revealed the truth behind God's word, deeming it hypocritical to allow more work to be done to help an animal than a human being.
The influence Jesus had on others through this passage was by revealing the hypocricsy contained in religion, He set men and women free from man's rules, man's bondage into the truth.
Today there are many people who would be similar and as we get into denominations we see much that is added to God's Word, they speak of the 'Law' and keeping the 'Law' yet they, like the people in this passage, miss the whole Spirit behind the Law.
Thank God for the simple gospel of Jesus Christ, do not let anyone complicate it with man's rules and regulations.
I hope this helps

Luk 13:16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
Above is the message.
Luk 13:17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
Above is how Jesus influenced others by it.

The message I get from it is that one should not consider caring for others as "work". Giving a person what they need to live, whether it is keeping this body alive or spiritually freeing them to life is a gift to be shared freely and it is a privilege to be able to do so. Helping others should be a way of life, not a chore. I think His adversaries understood something along these lines which is why they were put to shame. The multitude might have missed this lesson however, because the bible says they rejoiced for what He had done(it seems to me they rejoiced because of the act of healing itself and not the point being conveyed).

this isn't an assignment for class, is it?
Jesus is saying that it's ok to do good work on God's appointed day of rest. Moreover, he is saying that the law is not a hammer to slam over people's heads, but rather a guideline for holy living. Much of Jewish law was written not by God, but by men, either hoping to prevent themselves from even coming close to breaking God's laws, or (unfortunately) so the men who made the laws could be better than those who were under the law.
The answer to your second question lies in verse 17. he embarrassed the haughty religious leaders and delighted the people. so pretty much he won over more followers from the average people and ticked off the guys who didn't like him even more.

I'm taking this from the notes from the New American Bible: This verse is also parrallel to Luke 14 1-6
If the law as interpreted by Jewish tradition allowed for the untying of bound animals on the sabbath, how much more should this woman who has been bound by Satan's power be freed on the sabbath from her affliction.

A Crippled Woman Healed on the Sabbath
10On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, 11and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. 12When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity." 13Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.
14Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue ruler said to the people, "There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath."
15The Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Doesn't each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? 16Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?"
firstly that he could heal and second that he did not see the Sabbath as a day to not do God work. the Pharisees became very angry becouse of him healing on the sabath and that was one of the reasons they saught to kill him
