I know in February 2009 America is switching from Analogue to digital telveision broadcasting, resulting in analogue tuners becoming obsolete, is the same happening in Australia?
If it is, could you provide a source of your information?
Thanks

It appears that there is a move to fully switch from analog to digital broadcasts in Australia, according to the Digital Broadcast Australia website. I had a hard time finding any concrete dates anywhere, but this site explained why that was the case. Major metropolitan areas began using digital broadcasts at the start of 2001, and the technology has been filtering throuth the country based largely on population density. There are currently no specific dates for when the most remote parts of the country will finally even be able to receive digital signals, much less when everyone will have to have switched over in order to get any signals at all. The site did confirm that no forced changeover will take place _prior_ to the end of 2009, but it sounds like it's something of an eventuality.

Now, if you're lucky, your government will be echoing the US government's move to mandate that all newly-manufactured television sets, as of this month, must be capable of receiving a basic digital signal (not HDTV, just digital), no matter how small the screen may be. For the past year, this regulation has applied to only sets with a 27" or larger diagonal measurement, and prior to March of 2006 it was left completely up to the manufacturers to choose whether or not to include digital reception.

it fairly is a bad analogue sign of the Trinity Broadcast community on a 13 inch black and white without working knobs. They practice prototypes of it at maximum Salvation military shops. the only distinction is in hell you're surrounded via evangelical Christians who're continually speaking approximately what a marvelous guy Kirk Cameron is.
