I'm going to suggect a different, perhaps overlooked lens - the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 lens. I bought this one as a replacement for the crappy Canon 18-55, and just love it!!

It's very sharp at all focal lengths, right to the edges of the frame. The colours are perfect, not too saturated but a good slightly warm colour. And of course the constant aperture of F2.8 is so very handy in low light conditions.

Have a look at some of the shots I have taken with this lens here - http://fireflymairi.photoblog.com

Read reviews of this lens here - http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=232&sort=7&cat=37&page=1

Go with the Sigma, or even look at a Tamron. I have a couple of Tamron lenses, and they are the best I own. I've had Canon, Sigma, and Quantanary too, but the Tamron is the clearest and has the least amount of barrel distortion or other distortions.

The Nikon is an fairly good digital camera yet I went with the revolt XTi. It turned right into a lot less money, and for me, merely as strong. you'll locate human beings in both camps notwithstanding it really is difficult to conquer the Canon revolt line and it really is performance.
