Im looking to go to the states for a little while but i would like to to work while i am there. I was told that i may need to get a class H2B visa to work there but i was also told that as a canadian citizen i could just go and apply like i would here - with a resume and if needed, an application form. I just need to know if i can go down there, find a place to stay, and work to pay the bills. Im looking to go to Sioux Falls, SD if that helps at all. Thanks in advance to any help!

Sorry, you cannot just come down to the U.S. and get a job and work without getting a permit/visa to do so. Even people who come over from Canada to do a gig (performers), or any other kind of sales or work have to stop at the border and get a visa to do so, and these days, many of these need to be arranged in advance.
