i have several columns of data for one variabe (z-axis) each column is taken at different independent variable (x). how can i merge all these z-columns in one z-column . i am not sure about the suitable software that can do this function. however one of my friends told me that excel can do that, but i do not how. thank you very much

I'm not sure I completely understand what you're trying to do, but what I think you need to do is merge two columns together to behave as one column? If that's correct, you can do it by selecting the columns you want to merge, then right click on the highlighted columns. Select the "alignment" tab and check the box that says "Merge Cells". You will not be able to keep the data from all of the cells however. You can only keep the data in the upper-right-most cell.

If you want to pull all of the data from two columns and put them into a single column, then you would use a Concatenate formula. For example, if the data you want is in cells 'a1' and 'b1', and you want to put them in cell 'c1', you would type "=concatenate(a1:b1)" in cell c1. Then highlight that cell and all the cells in column 'c' that you would like to copy this formula to and type CTRL+D, and it will be applied to all of the rows.
