Why do you insist upon answering questions, spreading your hatefulness? Are you threatened by Christians?

After you comment in typical, uneducated fashion, read up on the Miracle of the Sun. It happened less then a century ago in Fatima, Portugal. The Virgin Mary appeared to three young children and gave them three secrets. When they told their parents, and word got out, authorities threatened to KILL these young children for fabricating stories. They wouldn't budge from what they've reported. On Mary's final appearance, she proved to all the doubters by making the Sun literally dance in the sky, of course after suddenly clearing up the rain clouds that have been drenching witnesses all day long. Over 80,000 people witnessed this. Of course many doubters have come to ridicule the faithful making the pilgrimage from Lisbon to Fatima on their knees. Most often, they come in doubters, and leave as converts. It was truly a miracle. I'll be praying for your convert, as well.

Further points...
1. People outside of Portugal did see this miracle...People as far away as Great Briton saw it. And of all those that saw it were there as doubters, not believers.
2. As far as the wealth of the Catholic Church is concerned, no one is more generous with money. And I do stress NO ONE. When the tsunami hit Indonesia a few years ago, an area where the dominant religion is Islam, the FIRST charity there was the Catholic Church.
3. As far as hatred is concerned. I have been on your side, sweetheart. I knew it was hatred then when I made similar comments. I know it is not hatred now, nor condesention. I hate your religious outlook, but I absolutely do not hate you.
I used to be repulsed by the look of a person praying. I was blessed by having the fortune to meet people that put enough curiosity in my mind for me to read into some of this and to make a consience decision to consider the alternative. This opened my eyes, and I hope to open yours as well.

All I have to say is this judging from reactions to your question

Matthew 7:6, "Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you."

as an atheist, and someone who grew up near fatima in portugal, here are my thougths...

i don't know what happened to the children or to the people who saw the whole sun miracle thing. mass delusion is an interesting thing. the weather was doing funny things that day and everyone there was looking for something to believe in. having heard the story a million times all my life, in full detail, i am far from convinced.
for the record, two of the children died (of some kind of fever?), while the last surviving child got to live out her life in seclusion in a convent. god forbid she spill the secret if allowed to actually have conversations. not sure why mary would have gone to all the trouble of miracles and all the repeat appearances just for a light show, and to make 3 kids' lives miserable. after all, she shared secrets, but they weren't allowed to tell. until, of course, several years after the events "predicted" had happened.

we aren't here to spread hatefulness, just to watch the most amazing miracle - that of a otherwise rational and even smart human being turning brainless.

Well ok.. I have been a wee bit hard on the religious theme tonight. In actual fact I was brought up as a catholic all my life and yes i am familiar with what you describe above. but after witnessing the sickening wealth of the catholic church, seeing so many wars born out of religious hatred and so much hypocritical goings on it is very hard to maintain any sort of "faith". I am ashamed to be catholic. I have come to this point in my life where I just feel its one big farce, power fight & money making machine. The problem with Jesus & God is man.

Why is it that you believe corny little tales like that mass hysteria, and call atheists dumb for not believing it, then ignore over whelming evidence like this... http://evolution.berkeley.edu Let me add something. If the sun had danced around in the sky, it would obviously would be witnessed by one heck of a lot more than 80,000 people some where in Portugal.

Oookay, you just tried prove the existence of Mary, the mother of Jesus, not Jesus himself.

And why is it when someone disagrees with a Christian they consider it "hatefulness"? What the heck is all that about?

On a personal note ... sure, I believe Jesus existed and I believe that he intended to die for everyone's sins. However, I also believe in the Pagan saviors that did the exact same thing Jesus did before Jesus did it, such as Mithra and Odin.

You don't believe me! You must hate me! Why do you hate me?!?

Grow up. Yes, I am threatened by Christians, every day. Christians who keep me from running for office in my own state; christians who harass and discriminate against my friends, and christians who restrict my access to necessary health care.

Mass hallucinations happen. And people lie. No reason to believe anything there.

Funny that it's perfectly explained if you correlate the position of the people who experienced it with each other and the weather the area was seeing.

Funny that anyone outside a fairly narrow viewing angle saw absolutely nothing...

i treat people as they treat me.

you deny the existence of over a thousand of my gods. why should i not deny the existence of your single god.

especially when the earth born son of your god has the same story of virgin birth and enlightenment as several of the ancient living gods did.

furthermore why must you folks always pray for my conversion. in Pagan cultures that type of prayer is called Black Magic. because you are trying to impose your will on somebody else.

and i can get 80,000 people to witness anything i want them to with some subliminal advertising and enough cocaine.
does that make it real and right. and if it does does that make it the only thing that is right?

They make hate Christians in fun, mostly.

Of course it's no fun any more when Christians actually know what they're talking about, then they turn to insults and hatefulness and expose who and what they really are.
