My best friend and i are close and have been cool for three years - just recently found out that we really have deep feelings for each other (he's liked me "forever") but decided that there's too much on our plate right now - when the time is right, it will happen. We decided just to keep being friends (he's the "shy guy" type) He said that he never wanted a 2 second thing with me but something serious.

Last night when i was talking to him he went from "okay" to sad/pissed/stressed. Apparently there's another guy that likes me and he was interested in hearing about him. Then in a monotone voice he would say, "you should give him a chance" and he muttered, "he might be a good boyfried..." then at some times he would say, "man, i hate girls...girls are stupid and stressful - i'll stay away from them for a while - man ive been stressed out with everything" (and i had a feeling he was talking about me) He wanted to stop talking early and go to bed.

Why is he like this when i we talk?

He's telling you indirectly that he wants to be your boyfriend. What's up with this "too much on our plate" business? If you really like a guy, then you make time for him and encourage him to do likewise.

It can't be "the time is not right" for him but right for some other guy. I'd see that as BS if I were him.

With a shy guy, you hav to be the aggressor. You have to push things along until he feels safe in the relationship. So what if he doesn't "sweep you off your feet." He still could be BF matierial just the same.

Go for it.

Ok....he will always be sad if you talk about other boys, boy freinds or relationships. It's simply because he does not have one...and in fact has no chance of having one any time soon. It's not about you. If it was he would just ask you out and empty the plate or whatever. After all.....did 'we' decide or was it all you(I'll bet it was and he just went along).
