Yes. They would still cross the border. They know they can scam the government into giving them money. In parts of California, illegal aliens apply for and get federal welfare.
Like it or not, illegal aliens are not wanted here.
In California, Illegal aliens each taxpaying family over $1000 a year. It is less expensive to pay Americans $50 an hour to pick vegetables.

I like this question, not enough people here on Y!A bring this sort of stuff up.
I think a good analogy is like the drug dealer and the drug addict.
No, the addict (illegal immigrant) should not have taken that first hit (crossed the border illegally). However, the right thing to do in my opinion is help the addict (allow illegal immigrants who have not otherwise broken the law and contribute more to this country than they take from it to stay), and STOP the drug seller (SEVERE fines and prison sentences for those KNOWINGLY hiring illegal aliens).

There are still those who would come and steal IDs to get either jobs or social benefits. Also, those who would come to have babies born in the US for the "anchor baby" status and all the freebies that come from that. However, it would go a long way towards helping stem the illegal immigration problem if suddenly today all employers stopped hiring them.
For the thousandth time, to those who say illegals working here helps keep the prices of our products and services down, I tell you that is hogwash! I am an American living in Canada, where there is very little, if any, illegal immigrants working and the cost of our products and services in Canada is very similar to the costs in the US. The small difference is due to Canada's higher tax base for universal social benefits and the small difference between the Cdn. and US dollar. As well, even without illegal immigrants working in Canada, we have fast food restaurants, clean hotel and motel rooms, our children get taken care of, houses get built, and we can all afford fresh fruit and vegetables. So, please give that invalid excuse a break!

Anyone wonder why the Mexican government wants the US to change it's policy? Why doesn't Mexico want it's own people?
Too many able body people and they might revolt and overthrow the greedy tyrants.
Conditions are terrible there but don't forget NAFTA has already sent factories down there to help there economy. Our jobs are outsourced down there. And still they come.
As with everything - follow the money.
Another scam. Bush and his buddies. Corporations make money. People suffer on both sides of the border.

you are so right if you have an opportunity for a better life and our government is paying for it out of the American peoples pockets, it would be nice if there was some way for homeless American citizens to be able to get the help like our illegals do. But you know what I find very sad the American people no matter what culture. Are being looked down on you don"t want to make a better life you want to take what American citizen has to work their life for and then have to fight for it. If you are here illegally it is a crime you know it there fore, you refuse to speak English now an American citizen will be refused a job because they are not bi-lingual I know I was one of them people. So you have no respect for our language, laws, country or our people that is what I think of illegal immigration

Yes - Employers should definitely be targetted. I live in Tucson and the problems here are quite severe. For an excellent reason to seal the borders properly, read Terror in America – You Are Not Safe! It shows why we must close the open routes into our country.

criminal immigration is the technique the position human beings attempting to enter the U. S. stick with immigration guidelines and stick with for visas, etc. to enter the country. unlawful immigration takes position at the same time as human beings sneak in like thieves in the nighttime, as in chinese welded into the metal holds of field ships that run aground on huge apple and Mexicans sneaking through the southern border without regard to the regulation. And strong grief, birds do no longer immigrate, they migrate, it extremely is travelling with the seasons. Mexicans ought to as a effect be more advantageous correct called unlawful migrants.

Do you think employers would hire illegal immigrants if they didn't break the law to get here, and in many cases if they didn't use fraudulent documents to get a job? Who is responsible then?
BOTH the perpetrators, illegals, and those benefiting, employers, are to blame. It is WE who are the victims.
