Remember that before the death of the lord on the crucifix, he told apostle John that Mary shall be his mother, and to her, John, his son. Thus, effectively entrust her to his beloved disciple.

Should more to be done to honor his mother in the protestant church? How would the lord feels when his mother is being neglected?

Note mother of god thus not literally put her on par with trinity itself but she is honored for giving birth to the christ who take the body of human flesh just like us, but sinless though. Peace.

People avoid honoring Mary because they don't wish to cross the line into what they see is worship.

Many Catholics seem to cross that line, and that is part of the reason that protestants avoid such honors.

Perhaps it's a case of "better safe than sorry" as people are supposed to worship God alone.

Then again, I'm a Pagan, and many Pagans have great respect for the figure of Mary.

God is a jealous God, he made it pretty clear to Moses that he didn't like sharing his faithful's devotions with other gods. Honor whom ever you wish, but worship God, and God alone. The Trinity is just humanity trying to get our little minds around the concept of God. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are the same being in much the same way your hand, foot and head are all "you". I am a Catholic, and have blurred though about a million "Hail Marys" in my time. Slow one down and listen to what you are asking of Mary, and you will have your answer.

That answer is no, we are not neglecting Mary.

Why do say sinless when she says in the Magnificat "..my spirit rejoices in God my Savior".......One has to be saved to have a Savior.
Mary is the most wonderful woman in the world but she was just that a human born with the sin of Adam and Eve.She is the mother of the Lord Jesus who was God from eternity. She was blessed to be the vessal to bring him into the world .Like a surrogate.Luke 11:27 "...a woman cried"Blessed is the womb that bore you and the breasts that nursed you!"
Right there,Jesus could have said "That's right and don't you forget it !She is to be co-redemptress!"
No ,rather He replied,"Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!"
The emphasis is always on the Father and the Word of God.
Since time immemorial .folks have wanted some sort of female Deity, whether it be Satan trying to decieve Eve into Godhood(You'll be as gods!) to Isis to Ashterath to Ishtar to Hera etc ad nauseum.
We love Mary as the most blessed of women ,but she was in the Upper Room on the day of Pentecost and was filled with the Holy Spirit just like everyone else.
...And Joseph (Matthew 1: 25) had no MARITAL relations with her UNTIL she had borne a son ; and named him Jesus".
Matthew 13:55,56.."Is not this the carpenter's son?Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers (not cousins, the Greek will not allow that)James,Joseph,Simon and Jude and his sisters with us?"
So much for the perpetual virginity angle.
Read the Bible and leave the man made stuff to the fake Theologians.

The Bible says that Mary will be called blessed and she is blessed because she gave birth to our Lord Jesus Christ. However, she does not want your honer, she wants you to worship and honor God alone, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Did Mary create the universe, did Mary shed her blood on the cross for your sins? Mary was not sinless, only Jesus because he was the only one who could make the sacrafice he did.

Jesus made provision for his widowed mother. He honored her by taking care of her emotionally and spiritually.

We are not to honor Mary. She was a faithful sister. She is in heaven with Christ now and we need not worship her.

Mary is not the mother of Jehovah God. She is the girl God used to incubate his son, Jesus.... and raise him.

Jesus had a beginning....Jehovah is from everlasting to everlasting...no beginning.

Jesus never claimed to be God but encouraged us to follow his example and worship the Almighty.

"While Jesus was saying these things, one of the women in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him,
"Blessed is the womb that bore You and the breasts at which You nursed." But He said, "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.""
Luke 11:27-28

The Bible identifies Jesus as the sinless One, not Mary:

"For he hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew No sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." 2 Corinthians 5:21

Mary knew she needed a Savior

In Luke's gospel, Mary herself admits that she was a sinner. Otherwise she would never have concluded that she needed a Saviour:

"And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour." Luke 1:46-47

Mary was chosen by God to be the earthly vessel by which Jesus entered this planet. Worshipping her is breaking the Ten Commandments. She was a human being, just like the rest of us.

Jesus told John to take care of Mary, not me or you!

Jesus himself said that his mother and brethren are the ones who hear the word of God and follow it, something like that.

Not so. Mary is the mother of God's Son, not God. At Luke 1:35, it says: "In answer the angel said to her: “Holy spirit will come upon you, and power of the Most High will overshadow you. For that reason also what is born will be called holy, God’s Son."

SHE'S DEAD, LEAVE HER BE..when my mom gets old I'll take care of her(not put her in a home) but when she dies I'll burry her, the rest is up to God. Christ should be the center of a Christians life, not the mortal woman who bore Him. No disrespect to her
