The news about Hills dry cat food came out less than 12 hours ago http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/pet_food_recall, it is possible more dry foods that contain wheat gluten will become added to the recall list, since most dry foods will be contracted to one company to produce just like menufoods produces canned food for many companies.

Look in the ingredient list on the bag if it contains wheat gluten it may be best to find another food until the FDA finishes their investigation and knows where all the wheat gluten brought in from China went, because if it found it's way into one dry food chances are very likely a lot of dry foods will also contain, menufoods was bought out from Doanes shortly after Doanes ran into financial trouble after they had a major dry food recall back in 1999, this left Doanes to make strictly dry food and Menufoods making wet, If the Hills cat food was manufactured by Doanes there could be a huge recall of dry foods coming in the next few days

I can recommend Canidae it contains no wheat at all and uses human grade ingredients such as meat(antibiotic and hormone free) and rice which is pesticide free, so chances of a problem occuring would be extremely slim in comparision to most pet foods markets since ingredients go thru human foods inspections

Personally after previous food recalls such a diamond, doane's(53 brands of dry food) and natures recipe
I have decided it is safer to stay away from all grains including rice which could develop molds that are highly toxic if stored improperly with corn and wheat being the biggest problem ingredients
I am feeding Innova EVO, other grain free foods available include some form Natural Balance, Barking at the Moon from Solidgold, Raw Instinct by Nature's Variety and one of the foods made by Timberwolf Organics, Origen, Go Natural most are quite expensive because they contain considerably high amounts of human grade federally inspected meats

NO, at this point it's only the Hills Science Diet dry cat food that is recalled when it comes to dry foods.

The manufacturer's Web recall site, http://www.menufoods.com/recall, lists recalled foods with serial and lot numbers. Pet owners can also call 866-895-2708 for information.

It was just the wet food that was infected.

No... They did not recall dry food, but I am as well keeping close watch..If you have a cat I suggest to feed it dry MeowMix or dry Fancy Feast...and if you have a dog give it Pedigree....These are great foods that I give my dog and cat!!!

Good Luck!!! (I hope your pets don't get affected by the food...)

Yeah, they found plastics in it. Hills recalled their brand, at any rate. Don't know about others yet.

Check out the article..
