I need to just send and efile my state return, without stuff getting done for federal. Where can I go to do this? All the sites I have tried make me enter federal stuff or it does it wrong.

depending on how complicated your taxes are you can go to just about any online place. i personally use turbo tax. you will have to enter in all the information as though you are filling your federal taxes. then you will get to your state taxes. they will auto transfer all that info to the state and run through a few more questions. you will then have the opportunity to just transmit your state taxes. it will assume you have not filed you federal taxes but just uncheck the box when it ask you what you want to file. federal state or both. just make sure the only box that is checked is state. it really is very simple and straight forward.

In order to prepare most state returns you must complete a Federal return first as the state returns are based upon your Federal return. Go back to where you e-filed your Federal return and complete the state return there.

Some states require you to file both returns together if you want to e-file so you may have to print out the state return and mail it in now.

First of all, where did you filed your federal taxes? Why don't you go to the same place and do them there.. Either way, you
need to enter all information again so you can do state taxes.. Remember this: Federal and State are two different departments when filing taxes. With this in mind, now when
you filed taxes......You'are going to file only for the state, but
not for the federal. Did I answer your question?

Check your state's website - many states will let you file your state return at their website.

Depending on the state, many of them need the federal info to calculate your state taxes, so you probably have to key that in again.

some states better 0.5 with the IRS loose document software and would provide loose state filing w/your federal. If no longer, once you document your federal, you are able to pass the state go back. Then merely pass on your state's Dept. of gross sales/Taxation and document for loose from there.
