Hey, i was just wondering, my GF works at a petsmart, and they throw the eggs out when the birds lay them, my GF brought me home a parakeet egg instead of throwing it out..is it possible to put the egg with my parakeet and maybe she will take care of it or is this pretty much a no go, thanks!

Depends, if she is currently laying eggs, then yes. If she isn't, then pretty much no chance. They don't want to raise one if they know they didn't lay it.
The thing is, the trip home with your GF would have damaged the fragile membranes/fetus enough that it would probably not hatch anyways. You need to be very very careful with eggs, esp in the first 15 days

A female bird will not set unless she is broody.Broody is a basic state of mind a female bird gets into when she is ready to set. Many times they can show signs of being broody before they actually start laying their eggs.If the bird is not showing any signs that she is broody (wanting to set) then she will not adopt the egg.Perhaps you would be better off trying to incubate the egg or eggs.
On a side note never try to sneak an egg in under a bird which is already setting. There are a couple of reasons you do not do this.Incubation times are critical once incubation has begun there is a set amount of days it takes for the eggs to hatch. So if you place a freshly laid egg under a bird which has already been setting for a few days the egg most likely will not hatch being once the older eggs hatch the mothers setting time is not a constance so the embryo will most likely cool and die.If it does manage to hatch it will most likely starve due to the older chicks it is competing with. The other reason is you can transfer unfamiliar bacteria to the eggs the bird is already setting on and that can end up killing all the eggs.

if your budgie is via herself don't be stunned. The egg laying is usual. Cockatiles will lay infertal eggs besides. purely get rid of the eggs and your fowl would be high-quality. they gained't hatch besides. If via some exchange you do have a male in the cage along with her, scoop the eggs up gently with a spoon and place them in the nesting container. risk is nevertheless, that the eggs won't hatch besides through fact that is an extremely good hazard that the fowl hasn't been conserving them heat. desire this enables.

No, a bird that is not laying eggs will not sit on eggs. If she has her own eggs, you could probably sneak this one in. Warm it to body temperature first, if she is already sitting on eggs; otherwise just put it in the nest.
But if she's not laying, she won't sit.

I wouldn't do it. She probably won't incubate it, and if she did, she can come in contact with any diseases that the birds there are carrying. Not good.

It is most likely infertile anyway.

She will probably not pay any attention to it at all. But, if you want to try just for the sake of science, go ahead.
