what Bible do you read NIV,NASB,NLT,KJV? what made you choose that one?

The KJV Bible because it is the only one directly translated from the original Greek and Hebrew text. The other translations are translations of the KJV Bible....they are translations of a translation. People are fooled into thinking that they can't understand the KJV Bible but don't believe them. You aren't stupid, you can read it. The KJV Bible is hard hitting and solid where as the other versions are wishy washing and watered down.

At home and in college I used to read the New International Version because it is just a lot easier to read and understand than the KJV or the NKJV and I believe it is really important to be able to read and understand the Bible.

Now I have switched over to the English Standard Version, which came out after I graduated from college, because it is still easy to read like the NIV but it is the closest (most accurate) English to Hebrew (Old Testament) and English to Greek (New Testament) translation available at this time. I like it even better than the NIV because it is so close to the original Bible languages yet is still easy to read.

I actually have a parallel Bible with these four translations. So I cross reference all of them and others when writing sermons and preparing worship. I love using Psalms from the Message Bible for a call to worship in contemporary services. But for personal devotions I prefer my NASB study bible. I think because it reads the easiest for me personally. I also have a pocket NIV which I use alot. It is actually very close to the NASB.

Most of the time I use a NKJV Women's Study Bible. But I also have an Amplified Bible that gives broader meanings to words in many of the Scriptures. When I'm studying eschatology I like to use the Tim LaHaye Prophecy Study Bible. I like the NKJV because it's basically the KJV w/out all the flowery speech. Some translations are out that I wouldn't trust too much, although some are fine.

I've got a KJV, Today's English, NIV, NASB, and an amplified New Testament. I've also used the New Jerusalem, NKJV and others. I like having more than one perspective.

Then again, I'm not a Christian.

I like the NIV, KJV, NKJV, and the NCV(New Century version). The NIV study bible is great, especially the rainbow study bible. King James Version is classic. New King James version has that classic feeling in more modern english. The New Century version is great for new believers.

Yes. I like to compare. I feel that they all have good things about them. The King James is very poetic, the NIV is easy to understand, as is the New Living Translation. The New American Standard is the most correctly translated from it's original languages. I usually use the Complete Jewish Bible because it gives the names of people and places and a great many things in Hebrew. I love to read the Names of GOD in their original because each name has a different and profound meaning.

I read the Devotional Study Bible of NIV and the King James Version. The First One (NIV) is for my easy reading and the Second One(KJV) is to help me find the words that were changed. Have you read Isaiah 14:12-17? In KJV the name of Lucifer appears as the Son of the Dawn. In NIV it seems that the name Lucifer was changed to "Morning Star" Son of the Morning. If the translation is right, therefore the name Lucifer must be "Morning Star". What is interesting there is that the speculation was that Lucifer was an angel who rebelled against God. If you will read Isaiah 14:16 -17 It says there that Lucifer was a man and not an angel who lead a group of angels to rebel against God. Then, another theory of the church is that Lucifer was Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon who calls himself God too.
What is more puzzling there is the next three words after Lucifer or Morning Star. "Son of the Dawn(Morning in some Bibles). We all know that Morning or Dawn in the life of a man means "Young". Son of a young maiden. Since we are told that Lucifer is an angel created by God therefore his being an angel would not come from any mother because he is a spirit while it says in the Book that he was a son.
Read Isaiah 14:13-14 You said in your heart' "I will ascend into heaven: I will raise my throne above the stars of God, I will sit enthroned on the mount of the assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. I will ascend above the tops of the sky I will make myself like the most high."
Read this also in Matthew 26:64"Yes it is as you say" Jesus replied,"But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.
In Mark 14:62 "I am," said Jesus, And you will see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."
Some more remarkable admission from Jesus is written in the Book of Revelation 22:16 "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David and the BRIGHT MORNING STAR."

Now, you probably will know why I read two Books. In fact, I have to compare it also to the LatinVulgate of the Catholic Church. I was able to hear because I have the ear trained not just to listen to the teachers who bring lie or who was made to believe in the lie.

I rotate among NAS, KJV, and RSV. The RSV is my oldest and my favorite because that's what I began with, and it was the only one I read for a long time, so it's more familiar. Now it's falling apart and I wanted to get a new one of that version, but learned that no one even publishes it anymore! I wonder why. Whenever I become interested in a particular verse or passage, I like to browse the Bible Browser http://www.ccel.org/jsp/bcb/main.jsp to see all the different translations and commentaries.

NIV Study Bible. I like that the best. But I also love Message Bible. I have many different translations, the only one I do not like so much is KJV.
