No, I don't think anyone should have to leave school to fight in a war, and I don't think there should be a draft either. Come to think of it, I don't think there should be a war, either.

"Student Postponements - a college student may have his induction postponed until he finishes the current semester or, if a senior, the end of the academic year. A high school student may have his induction postponed until he graduates or until he reaches age 20. Appealing a Classification - A man may appeal his classification to a Selective Service Appeal Board. "
A draft is not necessarily a bad thing many of the men that fought in WWII were drafted into the military. Around 10,000,000 men were inducted between 1940 and 1947. Compared to the 1.8 million that were inducted during Vietnam. But it would take a very serious national emergency to start a new draft. If you don't want to have a draft be careful who you vote for in the next election. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQKspxWa-44

The Draft will likely not be reinstated. I am in favor of a national draft. I believe that service, at any age or capactity is an honor and a privilege that is ignored by to many. Besides, any new system would most likely include the option of service at the local level. What would that neglected park look like maintained by volunteers?

1. We don't have a draft.
2. Those who say it's going to happen are just trying to pull attention away from the fact that they have done NOTHING they promised to do to win the election in November.
3. Most of our current troops joined immediately following high school, so they're 18-21 years old... and they're over there doing their jobs.
4. Nobody WANTS their children to go to war. Those of us who are realistic about it understand that war is an ugly and horrendous thing, but that it is sometimes necessary.

There is no concerns worrying about a draft....right now several people are joining the military. The best thing about the people joining now is they are joining because they want to serve and protect and not just joining for the college money...nothing wrong with that though.

The draft is not going to back in the near future.
You need a high school diploma or GED to join the military, so they wouldn't be taking high school students.
I would be honored for any of my friends or family to join the military.

Hell yes. I served in the Army active duty and am now in the Reserves. I firmly believe all young adults would benefit from alittle service to our country. It teaches respect and discipline. To most anyway. Some people are hopelellsly lost and will never have any respect for others.

Nope. But Senator Rangel won't actually reinstate the draft. He just wants air time.

if you are in high school you are not eligible for the draft, even if you are 18.
You can even be in-eligible for the draft if you are currently in college. Depending on whether or not your taking a full load of courses or just taking a couple of courses.
so your getting concerned about nothing. if your kid is in high school, he/she is not going to get drafted.
