anxiety can lead to severe depression if left untreated. i and most other females in my family have anxiety and panic attacks. i take Zoloft, sis takes paxel and cousin takes lexapro. everyone is totally different. what is working for you might not work someone else. you need to see a Dr. and will most likely be given a Rx and have you come back in 1 month and adjust or change Rx according to the amount of relief you are feeling. most Dr will also wont documentation from a therapist saying you indeed do have anxiety, while others will ask you questions decide to give you Rx or not.

No, anxiety, while it does put stress on the body, cannot kill you. However, when it's at its worst, it can make you feel like you want to die rather than continue to feel anxious. I know. I've been suffering from it for years, but I have learned how to control it, and so can you.
Talk to your doctor about the right meds for your anxiety. Your doctor may also recommend group therapy with other people who suffer from anxiety. Knowing there are others who feel the way you do helps, and those that have been dealing with anxiety for a long time can give you advice on how to deal with it, like deep-breathing exercises, meditation, eating right, etc.
If you're the praying type, trying praying when you get panicky. It helps me a lot, and gives me hope.
Take care.

According to Harvard-trained MD, Andrew Weil, who has written many books on alternative medicine and living well, the most successful treatment for anxiety and panic attacks is training yourself to breathe. Dr. Weil has a CD called Breathing, which teaches you six techniques for breathing. I am sure you could find a copy on Amazon.com and if you follow it's instructions and really practice it -- it could make a positive change.
Meditation is also good -- because anxiety may be caused by thoughts. Meditation trains you to empty your mind and allow your thoughts to flow through you, without your placing so much emotional emphasis on them.

St. John's Wort is usually taken for non clinical depression; users should tell their doctor, as it can affect other medications. For anxiety: avoid medications for colds, coffee and caffeine products (Excedrin, green & regular tea, Coke, Pepsi, Red Bull, Mountain Dew, cocoa & chocolate). Caro & Ecco are OK. Try Valerian root, seven blossoms, or chamomile tea (health food stores and some supermarkets). Practice for 20 mins daily, and when needed, the method at http://www.selfhelpmagazine.com Meditation room; try it out; mantra meditation; repeat the word: "easy". or gaze at a burning candle in a quiet, darkened room. Tai Chi & yoga suit some. Learn the breathing method at http://deeplyrelax.com, or: breathe in to the count of 8, hold to the count of 4, and exhale to the count of 8; repeat 3 or 4 times. 4 fish oil supplements, daily, may be of benefit, as well. You should feel considerable improvement in several weeks. See if you can cope without prescription medications; regard them as your last alternative. Remember to exercise daily, and eat healthily. Provide feedback to us, here, in several weeks, so we can help others better: Q: Would anyone like to know how the anxiety remedies you gave, worked?

The best medicine is no medicine at all. What happens to you comes from you -- you choose it consciously or not. So the best thing for you is to take many deep breaths, meditate, do yoga, relax. But don't get hooked on medicines, which won't solve any of your problems but will only give you new ones. Only you can change the way that you choose to react to situations. Nobody else can affect your choices at all.

No... Time is killing you. Anxiety is just making it seem a whole hell of a lot longer than it should be...
