It is a Catholic rule that you cannot eat meat on Fridays during Lent.
Before Vatican II the rule was that you couldn't eat meat at all during Lent.

That would be a man-made/church rule that was set up by the Catholic church. No where in the Bible is that stated.

It's mostly a Catholic rule. Most Protestant churches don't take that rule too strictly.

It might be a rule instituted by the church in Rome but it's not a rule given by God in the Bible.

Romans 14:5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.

Colossians 2:13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. 16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.

No, that is a tradition and it is deceiving. why, people think that if they don't obey this tradition, they go to hell. But the bible makes it clear that salvation is just by grace and not by obeying rules or silly traditions.
