The law of karma. Mankind's actions were so evil at that time that God would have dissolved the world. Jesus was a Christ, therefore he was capable of dissolving enough of man's karma that there was a new covenant. Only a Christ (anointed with God Consciousness) was strong enough to carry that karmic debt. Politics were of no consequence to Jesus. He stated "render unto Cesear that which is Cesears) He was only interested in man's relationship to God and he came to lead certain disciples to God.

His perfection and his resurrection. Moses spoke of the tree of life. Abraham said the lord would provide himself a lamb. Isaiah said by his stripes we are healed. Jesus said no one comes to the Father but through the Son.Jesus said: "For I tell you that this scripture must be fulfilled in me, ‘And he was reckoned with transgressors’; for what is written about me has its fulfilment" (Luke 22:37, RSV). The quoted verse is Isaiah 53:12. Jesus himself said he would fufill these prophesies.

His Resurrection.
John 3:14-16 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; that whoever believes may in Him have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
The lifting up is his crucifixion.

Because that's what the Bible teaches and that's what Jesus said.
Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
"I cannot see any connection between both ideas"
Isaiah 53:1-6 Who has believed what they heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

I am a christian, so I am going to try to explain it as well as I can, but you need to know, I'm only a highschool student, so my resources are limited, and I don't know as much about it as I could.
The source we use is the bible, so if you can't trust the bible, then to you my answer will seem dumb. But in reality, the bible is very reliable. If you want more info on that, e-mail me and I will go in depth about it.
Before Jesus, in the Old Testament, people couldn't have a relationship with God like they can today. For every little sin they did, they had to atone for their sins. If you told a white lie, you had to kill an animal or something, if you touched blood of a dead calf, you had to give an offering. If you have ever read the Old Testament, the list goes on and on about different sins, and how to atone for them. For every sin someone committed, they had to offer a sacrifice, whether it was an animal or grain.
When Jesus died on the cross, it was like the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus's death was the sacrifice for the sin we commited yesterday, today, and tomorrow. As long as we live, Jesus's death will count as the sacrifice for our sins. That sacrifice will never run out no matter how much we sin.
So now, instead of having to sacrifice an animal or grain, we just have to pray to God and ask for forgiveness.
Also, another plus of Jesus dying on the cross was that before he came, people couldn't have a relationship with God. The only pure and sinless people were priests. Someone who wasn't pure couldn't pray to God. That means the general population couldn't have a relationship with God. Now, since Jesus died on the cross, we are all pure because Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, and we are able to have a personal relationship with God.
John 14:6 says, "Jesus answered, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the father except through me.
Colossians 3:17 says , "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only sone that
2 Corinthians 5:17-20 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Romans 8:1-2 1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature,[b] God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.[c] And so he condemned sin in sinful man,[d]
I hope this helps you understand my faith a little bit more. I tried my best, but it's a prety hard thing to explain especially when I have to type it all! Again, if you have any more questions, e-mail me.

Did you ever read the crucifixion account?
Pilate did everything he could to release Jesus because he found no fault in Him.
If you are going to cast aspersions on the Gospel message at least let your contradictions be informed.
