Who cares about Mormon nonsense. Maybe she realized she was involved in a ridiculous religion.

No, it is not hypocritical. My parents were married in the temple, later divorced. As another has stated - since we do take eternal marriage very seriously, it is a long process and one must be very spiritually "sure" that what they are doing is correct. When my parents divorced, they got a civil divorce but my mother could not obtain a "cancellation" until she was ready to marry again. It's not a hard or bad process, but the church leaders want the very best for us and want us to be absolutely certain about such things... there are reasons for the way things are done, we may not understand or sometimes even accept all of them, but there are definite reasons.
My mother was remarried 2 years later and celebrating their 24th anniversary this year, and yes, they were sealed in the temple.
Getting a temple divorice is much different than a civil one, prayer and fasting is required, you don't just go "down to the courthouse" and file for one. Marriage is taken very seriously and in every instance every effort should be made to save the marriage...but of course every circumstance is different and we are counseled to ask for answers from the Lord.

in the LDS (Mormon) Church, you aren't from now on ex-communicated for divorce. at the same time as an unlucky difficulty divorce is, you may nevertheless be a member of the church in strong status even nonetheless they have been divorced. The exception to it is that if the divorce got here using some sin, like adultery, newborn abuse, etc. the only committing those acts leaading to the divorce does no longer be in strong status. So, in essence, your question and innuendo do not extremely make a lot experience in Mormon doctrine.

It is possible to break a sealing, especially when one spouse has broken their marriage covenants. From what I understand, this is what happened to her first marriage. You have to apply to the President of the church to have a sealing canceled, if it hasn't been already because of excommunication.

John Z, Marie's depression started as post partum depression and has nthing to do with how hard it is to live up to all the expectations of our church. in fact, to me, it's easier in our church than in some other CHristian churches that seem to think that clinical depression, which is a very real disease, caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, is just something that will go away as soon as someone "gets right with God". While faith in God is a good start, it's no more of a cure-all for depression than it is for a broken leg.

I'm going to pretend for a second that this is a serious question and that you're not trolling...

Yes there is such a thing as a "temple divorce"...but it's called a "Cancellation of sealing". And it's not easy to obtain...you have to petition Salt Lake for it and the bishop is very involved. Also, you have to have another person to whom you will be getting married or have married already.

It is difficult because marriage is intended to last forever. We don't believe in jumping in and out of relationships like Hollywood royalty. It's just not done. Marriage and family are sacred to us.

And we have this because if you can't be happily married to someone in this life, why would you think you can be happily married to to them in the life after this?

John- We do not have to perfect? Honestly I do not know what you are talking about or where you get your information.
Personall I have never gotten depressed because of my religion. People who get depressed our of all beliefs.

Mormons get sealed in the temple, if the divorce they are still technically sealed togther, unless they seal someone else in the temple. The rate of temple divorces in quite low.

They are forced to play to rules that are very hard. There is a high rate of depression among Mormon women. Marie Osmond has had serious boughts with depression for a long time. The reason is women in that religion have to be perfect or they will not join their man in the next realm. The rules are almost impossible to follow.
