Jesus died on the biblical day called Nissan 14 in 33 ce. He was Resurrected 3 days later.
The Passover was to remind the Jews of the day that Jehovah took them from the land of Egypt. They were instructed to sacrifice a lamb and put it's blood on the door post of each ones home. That night, or day to them, the angel of God passed over the homes where the blood was at the door post but killed the first born son of each household.
Today, the Passover, or Memorial of Jesus death will be commences on April 2, after sundown.
If you are interested, attend your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and observer, and listen, we appreciate Jesus Sacrifice and this is the most sacred night in human history.

Easter isn't a national holiday
it just always falls on a Sunday so it gives off the apperance of being one
no clue when he really died, no clue about when they claim he was resurrected
but Passover has NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS DEATH except that it was going on during his supposed capture by the romans
but the Passover holiday is thousands of years older than Jesus...it was celebrated LONG LONG before Jesus and is celebrated still to this day by Jews
and there is NOTHING in the passover seder that even remotely hints at Jesus

Most people get the hours between noon and three off on Good Friday and some get the day off as well, if they have a union. I don't know why Easter is a holiday and Good Friday isn't. The Jewish day begins at sundown, so on Thursday after sundown it is Friday. They came for Jesus that night and killed him the next day, but it was still to the Jews on Friday. Tradition has it that He hung on the cross from noon to 3:00pm. They had to bury the body before sundown because the next day was a high holy day. The Passover is a Jewish holiday when they remember the time that the angel of death killed all of the first born in Egypt except in the houses of the Jews who had put a blood offering from an unblemished calf on their door post. This event lead to Moses being able to lead the people out of Egypt and out of slavery.
Jesus rose in the night sometimes between his burial and dawn on Sunday. Remember that sundown on Saturday becomes Sunday. In my church we have the Easter Vigil or what is call The Great Vigil of Easter and it is done on Saturday night because Jesus rose that night. "This most holy night".

Easter was celebrated long, long before it became a National holiday. Easter, as you know, is the Christian celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. America, being a Christian nation, adopted this day as a National holiday.
Time, as we know it, began with Christ. Count backwards to zero, that's when he died, (a.d.) and was risen 3 days later.
The story of the passover is recorded in the book of Exodus, chapter 12.

Christ died on what we now call "Good Friday" and he was resurrected 3 (Jewish calendar) days later on what we now call "Easter Sunday". I'm not sure that either are really recognized as national holidays - most places do not get Good Friday off and already get Easter Sunday off just because it is on a Sunday. I would love to have the whole weekend off to celebrate His sacrifice and spend time with my family and friends! :)
The Passover is a Jewish holiday that dates back to Old Testament times when the angel of death "passed over" Jewish households, living in captivity in Egypt, and did not kill their first-born children as they had placed blood on their door posts and lentil. Read Exodus chapter 12 to learn more about it - especially verse 27. :)

You are confused. Easter is a pagan holiday. The Easter Bunny and Eggs are in tribute to the pagan god of fertility. The day Christian's should celebrate is Resurrection Sunday. That being said, we don't celebrate Jesus' death we morn his death. We celebrate is resserection because he gave all Christians victory over death. Christians don't die, to be absent from the body it to be present with Christ. The death wasn't the victory, the resserection was the victory.

Because Easter was decided at the Nicene Council. You can google it. When christianity was new the Emporer Constantine decided that it would be a good idea to mix paganism with christianity so that he could win over everybody. Pagans did the same things to worship their gods and goddesses that people do now to "worship" their god. You can find a lot of info about this with very little effort.
