God speaks in many different ways to His people. Not necessarily in an audible voice, though. He speaks primarily through His word, through others, and through circumstances. Sometimes while in prayer, He speaks to us in a small, silent voice.

Joyce Meyer has a wonderful book called HOW TO HEAR FROM GOD. I read it and it was very helpful. But basically, it's about eliminating outside interference. How can you hear from God if the television is on all of the time? How can you hear from God if there's constant noise all around you? How can you hear from God if your brain is always busy? And how can you hear from God if you never spend any time with him?

Gods voice is your thoughts in your mind and nothing more. Basically you're talking to yourself.

Get yourself into a quiet space,,,like a bedroom or something , no radio, no kids, etc. Sit quietly and pray for love and compassion. don't let your mind wander about what is going on in your day. Let it be quiet and you might have thoughts come into your head. That might be God talking to you.

Find the space in your spirit for the message. Try listening, and actually believe it when you hear it.

only those who know the shepherd can recognize his voice. to everyone else, it's silent. Read that Bible. That's an easy start.
